Birthday's and special events...

This is our first ever family trip, and although we are traveling from 09/09/2007 - 09/16/2007 my family is celebrating a few special events.

DD will be turning 3 on 08/23
DS will be turning 5 on 08/26
DH and I will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary on 10/01

Is there anything special we can do? Should we maybe order the kids a special Mickey birthday cake (although slighly belated)? Also since these events aren't actually happening during our trip, should we still let our hotel know?

Any suggestions?

We have celebrated my dd's birthday twice while in WDW..on her actual birthdays...6 and 13. But, my birthday is tomorrow, but we're going to WDW on Aug 5. When my dh asked me what I wanted to do for my 'big day' I told him nothing, I was celebrating in WDW!!! I did mention it when I made ADRs for Boma last week...just on a whim. I think I will buy myself a special birthday cake at the Boardwalk Bakery the day we check in and we can nibble on it for the next few days.
Go ahead and mention all the special celebrations. Nothing may happen, but you can never tell. While I have noted my dd's actual birthday each time, nothing much has happened. She has gotten birthday cupcakes at Crystal Palace and Chef Mickeys and a special placemat at CM's. I did order a beautiful cake for her 13th last Oct. Got it at the GF bakery, gave it to her at the GF Cafe!!
If you want to be sure something special happens, plan it ahead of time. A nice birthday cake for the kids would be a fun dessert at a restuarant where you'll be eating dinner. Call ahead to order one.

Wow, amazing cakes in the cake thread! Now I have some decision to make...

You could eat at the Coral Reef and have a diver hold up birthday banners. It is free and they will also make you a personal keepsake menu with your pictures on it. Also free. Then you can ask for the Birthday dessert and the anniversary dessert.
