My girlfriend's 19th birthday is on May 13th and we'll be there May 14-21st

We are noting that on our reservations and also have been told to pick up buttons at each of the parks as we enter.

What kind of birthday surprises or special treatments sometimes happen at Disney?

Doesn't always happen, however you may get confetti on the table. Also, sometimes they will bring out a cupcake w/ a candle.

We were just there this last weekend for my daughter's 9th birthday. Her actual birthday was on Saturday so we headed off to the MK for that day. We picked up the birthday button at City Hall and I also bought her a birthday cake hat to wear on her big day. At each restaurant that we ate at that day, they decorated the table and brought out a birthday cupcake for my daughter.

Throughout the day, my daughter was wished a happy birthday by many CM's and guests. It was great!!! :teeth: We also had some nice CM's give us fastpasses for a few rides b/c it was my dd's birthday.

I did pay for a gift basket, cake and balloons to be delivered to our room and they were great and a nice touch. :earboy2:

Enjoy your trip!!

We celebrated dd's 7th birthday last year and it was wonderful. The hotel sent up balloons and cards and candy (and they were nice enough to give ds and other dd a card and candy also). We did order the special dessert at 1900 Park Fare - cinderella slippers and dog bones but the other restaurants gave her a cupcake or cookie for free. CRT had confetti sprinkled on the table. Many CMs wished her a happy birthday and some gave her a free fast pass. CMs also stopped and asked her if Goofy had called her yet and in MGM while we were waiting for the parade the security officer had the CMs from the gift shop come out and sing happy birthday to her. THis year we are celebrating ds's birthday and are going to do a BIrthday cruise.

Our daughter turned 13 on our trip. We ate dinner at The Brown Derby. The "mayor" of the BD came by the table to wish her a happy birthday and got the entire restaurant to sing Happy Birthday to her. Her face was sooo pink!

In our experience...we went for DD's 2nd birthday - we checked in to Crystal Palace and I even SAW on the ticket the CM had on our table- it said DD's birthday....we saw cupcake after cupcake being brought out for others and nothing was ever done for her...not even Happy Birthday from the CM. I didn't mention anything because I don't like to be pushy and if it happens it happens....now at the California Grill...we went there for our anniversary - noted on the ressie and EVERYONE said Happy Ann beginning at check in and they brought us a special cake for dessert with a Happ Ann chocolate on it.

I think it is a hit or miss thing!

This past December while at WDW, I celebrated my Birthday every day. My birthday is on the 25th (yes, a Christmas baby). I wore the buttons in each of the parks and received many "Happy Birthday" greetings from CM's. Probably the best "surprise" was at the Garden Grill in EPCOT. Instead of the regular dessert with our dinner, they brought out a special cake, large enough for our entire group with some leftover to take along as well. They sang their Happy Birthday song and then one of the chipmunks, can't remember if it was Chip or Dale, came over, lifted some frosting off the side of the cake with a spoon and deposited it right on the end of my nose! My dh has the whole thing on video. I thought it was fun and my kids sure got a big kick out of it.

We also made note of my Birthday for our dinner at V&A. At the end of the meal they brought out a chocolate card. It is a good size piece of flat chocolate with a special occasion greeting on it that is presented inside a special card that the CM's will sign. They also did this for of Anniversary a number of years ago.

You never know what will happen, but hopefully you will have a number of "magical" experiences while celebrating a birthday. ::MinnieMo

On my birthday last year we stopped on our way out of the MK in the afternoon to listen to the Barbershop quartet sing and they called me up to them and sang Happy Birthday to me.

After reading about it here, I hit City Hall at MK for a pin on my 30th birthday, in 2003. Even the CM that gave me the pin didn't say, "Happy Birthday"! Nobody, guest or CM said a thing about it, and nothing special happened. :confused3

I know when my sister and I went for her 51st birthday las February (We called it the two middle age sisters running amok tour) She got buttons from each of the parks and she got a lot of Happy Birthdays from CM's and Guests we rode in the front of ALOT of rides without having to ask. She was given little treats from the shops at EPCOT. I think the coolest thing she received was the Great Movie Ride actually gave her a b-day card signed by the the CM's who were working the ride that day. It was a huge card and very cute. I was so jealous. As far as restaurants were cocerned, when I made ps for the 3 dinners we wanted I asked them to make note of the fact that it was her b-day. Chef Mickey brought her a really cute cupcake. But no singing, the CM didn't say a word when she brought it, nothing. At Hollywood and Vine it was acknowledge on our sheet but nothing was done. And Whispering Canyon made her stand up and state her name and age to the entire packed restaurant. (which thrilled me no end) So I just guess it depends on where you are and how prominent you display buttons, etc.

On our last trip (May 04) we celebrated DS 4th birthday. I notified the Crystal Palace at time of reservation and Pop Century. At the Pooh breakfast he got a birhtday card signed by all the characters and a cupcake and the cm put streamers on the table. It was really nice! Whe we returned to the resort he had balloons and a card with a personalized autographed picture of Mickey! These touches were very special and maybe we were lucky because I just mentioned the birthday that one time when I made the reservations.
