We're going to be celebrating my mom's 60th birthday in Disneyworld. I'm trying to come up with fun (and inexpensive) to give her a little birthday surprise each day. Here's what I've thought of so far...

* decorate her hotel room - nothing to over the top, probably a Happy Birthday banner and a tablecloth on the table

* birthday pin

* make and give her a shirt that says "Celebrating my 60th Birthday at Disney"

* make shirts that my boys will wear saying "Celebrating Nana's 60th Birthday" at Disney

* make a "Birthday Times" sheet on Disney paper that lists all of the things that happened in history on her birthday (including some Disney stuff too of course)

* surprise her one night with a little gift bag of lotions for tired feet and muscles

* menu with pictures at Coral Reef (can't do the diver b/c our ADR is too late)

* On the last night, we'll give her a Mickey Mouse charm for her Pandora bracelet to remember the trip.

I need to think of a couple more things...does anyone have any ideas they'd like to share????

Go ride the Monorail, tell the attendant that it's her birthday and ask to sit in the front car with the driver. The driver should give her a Monorail license. Kids love it and 60 year old kids will too. It's a great photo op as well!

One year, we were in the "Bawa Bar" at Disney's Animal Kingdom in the afternoon. DH and I were chatting with the bartender when he asked if we were staying for the parade. We said probably - he asked if we wanted to be in it. Then (of course) I said are you kidding? So he told me who to look for - the guys that were walking around looking for families to be in the parade. Long story short - we got to be in it, kids don't remember since they were only 2 and 4 (and they bent some rules apparently due to their ages).

I am wondering, if you go to the parks and talk to guest services, ask about something like that. It never hurts!

I think it is very wonderful that you are planning to make this special for her! I always have tried to make our trips to Disney special for my family as well! We have enjoyed an illuminations cruise on new years eve there and many other great memories.

If the budget allows, I really enjoyed the illuminations cruise. We were staying at the AKL in a concierge room, and they booked us for that (on Breathless, which I didn't know until we got there was very special!).

Get her an autograph book and fat pen to get character signatures.

We usually go to a few character breakfasts or at least one - 1900 Park Fare and Cape May Cafe - they usually will make a fuss and bring a character over to celebrate the birthday and bring out a cupcake.

I have taken lots of pictures and then created a album after to trip for the memories when your back home.

Have a great trip!!

Make sure to stop by guest relations and get her the bday pin. She will get lots of attention from CMs and guests alike. She may even get free desserts & fast passes (that is what I got in Feb)

:)
