If I prepare a gift basket (for my inlaws) at home and send it to myself at the resort; then, add more items like two birthday buttons from the front desk, and then a few souveniers from the gift shop (wrap it nice)...Could I then hand the basket to the front desk and ask them to hand it to my inlaws when they arrive a couple of hours after we arrive? (would they do this?).

Or, I could just be in the lobby when they arrive and hand it to them then, or just give it to them "whenever"- - - I just thought it would be cool if it were waiting for them at check in and given by the resort staff. Or - am I just gettin a little too cheesey with this?!!!! :dance3:

If you were given a birthday basket at wdw from your grown kids, what would be the most magical way to receive it?

When I ask my DH he just looks at me and
thanks Dis!

I think it'd be sweet for you to be in the lobby with the basket when they arrive. How cute of a surprise to be there to welcome your parents to Disney with a basket you made for them.

However, if you want the CM's to give it to them you could ask about that.

Or you could put it in their room for them (while they are out) and it can be there when they get back.

As long as you have a tag with their names on it, the resort staff will gladly take the gift basket for you and present it to your in-laws. Just ask the front desk to make a note that your in-laws have a package waiting to be presented at check in.

The resort staff is very good at helping with this sort of thing. They've given out literally over a hundred gift baskets for me with only a problem on a couple.

My daughter graduated from high school a year ago June. She and several friends as a graduation trip were staying several days at POP. A few days before she and friends arrived at POP my wife and I stayed there for a night. We bought a Mickey graduation pin and went to the front desk at POP and asked if they would give it to my daughter when she checked in. Cast member said no problem, put it in an envelop and when my daughter checked in they gave it to her.

Other part of story is my daughter left the pin in the room when they checked out, she thought it was gone for good. But a few days after she returns home from WDW in the mail she gets an letter with a note from cast member at POP saying housekeeping had found the pin and it was being returned to my daughter. Disney magic.

Thanks! I feel relieved that the front desk people will be fine with this!
Disney (and the Dis)...magical !! :wizard:
thanks!

I took some Christmas stockings to a couple we were going to meet up with to CBR one year for their kids. Course, they didn't know it was me. I told the staff to say it was from Santa. It had a bunch of Disney Dollar Tree stuff in them with each childs name on it.

I would totally love this! I think you should have the front desk give it to them. Or if there was a way to get it into the room before or right after they arrived, that would be cool too. But let it come from a CM. People like being in on surprises, even if they do it all the time....

Thanks everyone! I thought about asking them to bring it to their room (I know that they can't bring it to their room before they officially check-in and have a room number).

But, I think if they get it at check in, it'll really take them off guard and hopefully surprise them. I can just see my MIL turning red when they give it to her! She blushes and gets teary-eyed pretty easily...like me.

1) You can have almost anything given to people at check-in.
. . . take the item to the Front Desk
. . . tell CM who it is for, and the day they check-in
. . . the item is flagged on the ressie
. . . it will be noticed and then given at check-in
2) This happens MANY times a day for such items as
. . . room keys left for another person
. . . flowers and baskets
. . . tickets
. . . rooms package benefits

Awesome! Thank you! Hopefully they won't mind there being a small bottle with alcohold (like a small bottle of champagne) or, as my DH suggested, my FIL really likes Drambouli (sp?) - It'll probably be well hidden with the other items in the basket. :goodvibes

If the basket contains alcohol, it will have to be presented to the guest so that id can be checked. No baskets with alcohol can be placed in a room.

Are you sure you want to make the basket yourself and then pay to mail it and then continue to work on it?

What about www.disneyflorist.com
or check out FeralPeg's baskets (her post is above)
I have used both.
DisneyFlorist does a nice champagne presentation with mickey flutes or whatever else you want to add, they may very well be able to put the birthday pins in the basket....
just a thought. You may have specific items you want that these venues cant provide...

I keep going back and forth about what to do. Thank you for the link to Feralpeg's site (and thank you also to FeralPeg for the responses!).
