We will be going to Disney in March 07 and our son will be turning 11 while we are there. We will be staying on site at Old Key West and have not planned on which park we will be at or even if we will be at a park the day of his birthday. So I'm open to suggestions. I arranged for Cindy's Breaksfast on my 40th B-Day (I'm the Dad by the way) but I don't think he would appreciate getting his picture taken with Cinderalla as his special surprise for his 11th B-day!

What suggestions do you have?

My DS will be turning 11 in APril and this is what I have planned so far: Ohana's he loves STITCH!!! This will be a surprise so how I am going to present his surprise is with that one stock from Disney in a frame and tell him lets go check on your investment! I am asking my parents to give him Disney dollars for his birthday, since they always ask what to get him for his birthday! Way cool!

That morning he will receive a all from one of the Disney Characters to wish him a Happy Birthday! I will decoprate his room while he is sleeping too!
I will be ordering a cake for his Birthday dinner and am deciding but think I will go with Whsiepring Canyon for his dinner fun atmosphere! He will get to pick whatever park or parks he wants to go to that day and will be sure to get him a birthday pin at the guest services desk at the park!

In the evening I figure we will got over to Dwontown Disney where I am sure all his dollars will to go Legos he still loves them!

On the table will be a basket inside will be some DIsney PS2 games and a few movies! I have a portable DVD I have on layaway as we will be driving down there and will give him beofre we leave as a present!

Have fun and I am glad you can celebrate lifes greatest gift in WDW!!!!

My DS is 10 and he loves the thrill rides. What if you get fastpasses for his favorite ride and let him use them all. I mean ride back to back to back. It might put everyone else out for a little bit but a small thing for a birthday present.

Or maybe get one of those Star Wars picture things where they put your face on the body of a Jedi. i think those are cool but I'm to cheap to actually buy one.

Depending on your son, you could have one of the Princesses make a huge fuss over him. I know my DS was really embarrased when Cindy said "Bye handsome" to him once. I haven't seen such a sly/shy smile since!! I know underneath it made his day.

Hope these help

I would start out by getting him a birthday pin at City Hall :yay: (if you are going to the MK) or I'm pretty sure you can get them at guest services at the other parks. He will get many birthday wishes from the CM's and possibly a cupcake :cake: or 2 when you eat on property. You could let him pick out the restaurant he wants to go to and make sure you tell them when you make the ADR's that it's your sons birthday. Since it's also your birthday, you both may enjoy the Illuminations Cruise at Epcot, they have all different arrangements for celebrations. Have fun and Happy Birthday!! :disrocks: :bday:

The birthday pin is key...have him wear it for your whole trip and you are bound to have some fun surprises along the way. DS turned 10 on his bday at Magic Kingdom, and the Barbershop Quartet pulled him aside on Main Street and sang Happy Bday to him... it was great!
We had lunch at the CP and he had a cupcake and all the characters gathered around him for a picture since they were all close by.
There were so many fun moments that made him feel special... The more people you tell, the more surprises you may encounter!
It truly is a magical way to spend a bday!

Disneyquest!!!

THANKS YOU THANK YOU JENNY!!! I can't believe I totally forgot about that and am writing down so I don't ! Just hope I don't foget where I wrote it down! :lmao:

Anything that has to do with a videogame zaps my brain! :confused3
But DS just loveeessssss them!

Thanks everyone these are great suggestions. I think the key here is to let him plan his day and then let the magic unfold from there. I am finding this a tough age because he's at the point where he thinks he's too cool for Cahracter meals and some of the usual Disney fun. I think letting him pick where we go and then maybe throwing in a few surprises is they key.

Thanks again,

Cygnus

My DS will be turning 10 during our December trip and I cannot wait! :)

When we were there this past Jan and also for our June/July trip I had him really think about what he wanted to do and told him that he would be able to plan his day (within reason). So far he wants to try to visit all 4 parks to get a birthday button and at least ride 1 attraction in each park. We have dinner reservations for Tony's (MK) and then we have tickets for MVMCP.

I have also planned for an ice cream cake surprise at dinner and also think (if we can fit it in) that we'll rent water mice (never done before) or play mini golf (loves playing) or something along those lines. He's done DQ before and that, for him, would be fun but not the highest on his list, believe it or not. I also plan on getting some presents (he loves Legos) and putting them out in our room as a surprise. DS is very naive so he still loves to hug the characters and wave to the princesses, so we are looking forward to a fun trip!

What about a special tour?
