Birthday Suggestion

Hi All,

I'm celebrating a major birthday on our next trip to Orlando in later in the year, and want to do something a bit different.

We're thinking about either the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show or Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review, any thoughts please?

Or can you suggest something else?

Happy birthday! I haven't experienced either, but based on reviews here and on other Disney sites, HDDR hands down! I rarely hear good things about the food or entertainment at Spirit of Aloha and always hear good things about HDDR.

Of course, I'm a big fan of Cali Grill with fireworks on the roof after dinner...

Hoop Dee Doo! Very fun atmosphere and worth every penny. All you can eat and drink. Can't go wrong. Be sure to get Tier 1 or 2 and you will be guaranteed a good seat. If they know it is your birthday, they might include you in the show, if that appeals to you. I couldn't get the reservations to work online for some reason, but there's a number you can call.

HDDR is great. Good food fun show lively atmosphere. We have been 5 times over the many years and enjoyed it each time

Hi,

Thanks for the responses so far.

Group is just my partner and I (no kids!), and we have considered the ‘nice restaurant’ option but would rather do something a bit different/fun.

Did weigh up going to Mickey’s Not So Scary but we’re going to do that another night, and would probably feel like just another park day anyway (even if it is a great one).

Have not been to the Luau in like 30 years, so I couldn't say. But we went to HDDR earlier this month and it was still total awesomeness! I mainly made the ressie because the wife had never been but I have to say, it's every bit as engaging to me as it was the first time I went in 84'.

We did this the last night of our trip last spring and it was so wonderful! Plus, it was our last viewing of Wishes, so it’s a very special memory.

That is awesome! We live in Florida, a couple hours away, but try to do different things every time we go. It’s on the list for a special occasion now!

They really do it nicely. However, with the new fireworks show with much more detailed projections on the castle, you miss that from CG, and almost anywhere other than main street. However, you still get the music, fireworks, lasers and an amazing view. Still well worth it.

And not to mention you don't have to worry about getting trampled at the end! LOL! That is my DH's least favorite activity when going to the parks! This would put his mind at ease!
