We are staying CL during DW's B-day. She doesn't know we are going for that time yet, nor does she know that we are staying CL (first time). Will they do anything special for that day, or do i need to plan and they will try and accommodate?

They will do nothing special. Every day there are hundreds op people celebrating all sorts of occasions. If you want something special you will need to pay for it.

Yikes!! :scared1:

Hopefully my answer is a little more helpful: let them know it's her birthday. They can work with you on getting balloons, a card (we just celebrated my mom's 60th while there a couple months back and they were wonderful!). We stayed at the Poly and they even gave her a homemade lei in a box made from real flowers. Also look into disneyflorist.com for some extra special bday magic :)

Thank you. I know that nothing in this world is free. Guess i should have reworded the question. I guess what i am looking for is will they help out with getting stuff to the room. I don't think i will be able to get her away from the room for a period of time without me being with her.

Disneyflorist.com will deliver something to the resort then it will be put in your room when you're not there. It can be pricy, but they can do just about anything you want (substitutions, add ons, etc..) You can leave some light instructions as well.

Maybe I could help you out more, specifically what are you trying to get to the room? Like large packages? They can help you bring stuff to the room, just bring a couple bucks to tip them if you want...your decision :goodvibes

I'm not really sure yet. It's not till July 2013. Just trying to get ideas. I'm kind of new to all this chat stuff (i still don't have a facebook account). But i have been reading the this board for a few years now as i LOVE disney world.

Welcome to the boards. Don't let that rude answer stop you from asking questions here.

And YES, sometimes Disney does do free things for special occasions. There are free Birthday buttons for one. If she wears one, Cast members will tell her Happy Birthday all over the parks and resorts. Some restaurants might give her a free dessert. If it is noted on the reservation, the CL might do something or not, but they will definitely wish her Happy Birthday if they know about it.

My answer was not rude just direct, plain and simple. No the things the OP asked for do not come free.

In January we celebrated my 50th birthday and my niece's 13th birthday. Who knew that when you were the celebration button they sing happy birthday to you on the bus? Also, 2 TS restaurants GAVE us "birthday cake" - for the 3 of us, not just the two birthdays.

So, I guess it varies. I do remember on checkin the CM asking if I needed anything special for my niece's birthday as well, she said she could help arrange anyting special I wanted.

We were at WL CL for my birthday in July and the CL CM's all signed a card and Mousekeeping left it in my room on my birthday. :goodvibes

I think that if you want something more elaborate, they will definitely work with you using some sort of vendor like Disney Florist. They'll want to help you make the day special for your wife. And, as the wife of an "Air Force Guy", I think that's super special! ::yes::

Also, if you note her birthday on your reservation, you never know what you'll get around the parks...it may be nothing, but you may get something!!! I really didn't expect anything, and we were suprised at Le Cellier when not only did they also all sign a birthday card and present it to me singing happy birthday, but they also gave DH and I a personalized anniversary menu (we were celebrating our 10th) which darn near brought a tear to my eye.

At Biergarten, we did not mention our anniversary at all...and obviously because it was on our reservation, the Oompah band announced it to the whole restaurant and made us stand up. It was pretty cool! :thumbsup2

We've stayed CL for the last 3 years to celebrate our twins' bday. Each time, I bought some gifts and the CM's kept them hidden for me and then they put the gifts in our room while we were gone for the day. Each year, the CM's also did their own thing for the girls, one year it was balloons with little disney trinkets. Another year it was chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate mickey & minnie. Another year it was 2 small gift baskets with candy and a little trinket. Nothing huge, but they did acknowledge the birthdays in their own way. This was at the BC CL all 3 times.

All resorts (I think?), whether CL or not, also give you birthday buttons to wear throughout your stay. In restaurants, when the staff sees the birthday buttons, they normally bring over the standard cupcake with candle and sing. Not sure if it's the same procedure for adults, but that's how they handled our kids. We also pre-order cakes from the cake hotline which we have specially made for the girls and then served at a restaurant on their actual bday.

We stayed at the AK CL for my birthday and they gave me a card signed by the CL staff and 2 bottles of perfume in the shape of elephants and giraffes.

As others have noted, what Disney does for her will vary. We've stayed at CR CL and BWI CL for my son's birthday. At CR, he received a birthday button and a card signed by the characters. At BWI, he received the button & card, plus a bunch of balloons and an assortment of candy.

For extra-special touches -- like a cake or flowers or something -- you can work with the CL IPO in advance for assistance with it.

When we stayed at YC CL in 2010 for our 15th anniversary we came back to this in the room:

It was nothing we had paid for...just a little Disney pixie dust surprise! pixiedust:

Our anniversary was noted on our reservation.

I certainly wouldn't expect anything over-the-top unless you pay for it, but with Disney you just never know...

We stayed AKL CL last June a week before my birthday and the CM came by with a lovely AKL notebook, pen and keychain. I didn't think I would get anything, but I mentioned that I had to share my birthday with Father's Day this year and they must have felt bad for me and threw some pixie dust my way.

Actually your information is wrong. As long as your birthday celebration is on your reservation and you remind the castmember at check-in someone in your room is celebrating a birthday, they will do something nice. :) Rather it be a balloon, a special towel animal display, an autograph from Mickey, a birthday button, a card from the club level staff, candy, or some other item, I can 100% guarantee you will be recognized in some way. Now, as for exactly what it will be there is no way of knowing, I have been to WDW for my birthday the past 10 years consecutively and I've received many different surprises. Sometimes just something small, but other times HUGE surprises. :)

As for planning a birthday party in your room I can highly recommend contacting IPO to let them know which day you plan to celebrate. They will give you the phone number to private dining so you can order the cake. The cakes they prepare are FANTASTIC and reasonable priced... they will have it in the room at a specific time for you along with plates, napkins, forks, etc. You can also order flowers, stuffed animals, and balloon bouquets from the Disney Florist if you want to really go all out. Another tip is that if you can sneak back to the room yourself (pretend you forgot something) that is a good way to set up even more surprises on your own (like gifts and things).

Feel free to PM me if you want more ideas. :)

We were celebrating out 5th anniversary and our son's 3rd birthday by staying CL at the Poly in a GV room. When we checked in, the lovely girl at the desk asked us if we would like to watch Wishes from our patio and if we wanted to she would move us to a Lagoon view room. She said that since we were celebrating so much, we should have a better view. It was a wonderful Pixie Dust surprise!
