I am sorry if this might be long but please help if you can! Every year I give my boys the choice of a party (with friends) or a present..my now 8 year old decided he wanted to have a party at Chuck E Cheese. We sent the invitations into school 2 weeks ago. Out of the 9 boys invited, only 4 bothered to r.s.v.p.. Anyway, the one mom left a message on the machine saying this:"Hi this is blank's mom, I'm calling to r.s.v.p for blank that he'll be at Christian's party. And if you could call me back I just have another question about my other son who is 5..I usually bring him to everything that blank's invited to since it's just me and the boys..hope that's not a problem for you. Thanks"..I would never have the nerve to just invite my other son to a party. I don't feel like I should have to pay the 14.99 for this other child that my son does not even know. On the other hand, if she just showed up with the child I would not be able to let the boy sit there and not participate. Should I say something to her or just let it go and pay for the boy? My mom thinks if she has enough nerve to invite her son to the party, I should have the nerve to tell her she has to pay for him herself.

There is no correct answer. It's too bad the lady put you in a bad spot. I would probably not return her call. In the end anyone can come into the place. If the lady shows up with the boy and insists that he be part of the gang we would probably pay for him.

this kinda happened to me at cec, my sil has 4 children- 3 went to my dd bday party and they brought their cousin she said, in place of the child that was not there. I was in the middle of having the party (busy) so i just smiled:upsidedow but when i got home everyone thought she had alot of nerve me dh mil fil etc. what the ---- people just do what ever they want

Maybe she just means that she'll hang out with the little brother at the venue, not that she expects you to pay for them. I've done the same when I've taken my son to parties where I wasn't comfortable just dropping him off but I had my daughter with me. I'd stay but not stay "with" the party, and of I course paid for our own food and my daughter's activities there.

I'd call her back and say "Hi, Sue, I'm so glad Johnny can come! When you arrive I'll take care of getting Johnny checked in with our party while you place your order your for food and your little one's tokens. The birthday table will be XYZ - hopefully you two will be able to find a table near us!" Something like that would make it clear that you will NOT be paying for her or the other child. I would offer the little one a piece of birthday cake, but we always have extra cake, and I don't want to bring it home with us, lol!

That's what my husband thought too. We did try to call her back to tell her it was o.k. but her fax machine kept going off. We called Chuck E Cheese and just made sure that if there were extra kids, we could just add them in.
