My son is turning 7 on November 20th and he wants to have a costume party this year for his birthday. We've decided on Marvel Comics (assorted) plates and napkins. I think we'll do a costume contest (and have some things available if a child shows up without a costume) with prizes (everyone will win something).

I'm not really sure how to decorate or play games for this. We're going to have it at our home. I figured some of the time they could play/watch Spiderman and Superman video games, but I don't want them to do that for longer than 30 minutes.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The party will be held mainly in our basement. If the weather is nice, we'll extend it out to the yard.

If you're going with a spiderman theme, you could do a craft where they make their own spiderwebs on paper with string.
Or maybe some kind of (EASY) jeopardy/superhero trivia game. Or a pin the spider on (the center of) a web?
This theme gives you great food ideas, too-- spider web cupcakes, cupcakes with a lightning bolt on them (for captain america/storm). I don't really know any other Marvel charactes, but go crazy! You picked a great theme, and your son will only be 7 once! Have a great time with it!!

You could have them each design their own comic book page, or have them act out their favorite comic book scene (have various comics on hand for inspiration). You could design a beanbag toss game using the comic theme (ie shape of a bat with the tips of the wings and center being open and worth various points)

just wanted to say HBDAY to your son, my bday too....however, I will be 35!! My DD is 7 on Halloween.

try birthdaypartyideas dot com, they have gret stuff.

Thank you all! I guess I'll run with the comic book theme. I was going to put disguise items (fake mustache, black sunglasses, etc) in their goodie bags, but maybe I'll just do comic books or something similar.

Aw, this takes me back. My DS23 had a SuperHeroes birthday party when he was 7. We played musical chairs--only nobody gets out. We used Star Wars music*you know, that sounds pretty masculine and exciting* Each time the music stopped, we removed one chair. All the kids stayed in the game and they went around again. When the music stopped they had to sit on each other! we removed another chair, and on and on, until we had only 1 chair left and it basically was a dog pile!:rotfl: the boys thought it was hysterical!

Another thing we did was a kind of scavenger hunt. I tied very long pieces of yarn to a pack of gum and hid them in teh back yard. then I walked around trees and bushes, even over the sliding board, spooling the yarn out behind me. When I reached the back door I snipped off the yarn and tied a Superman pencil to it. During the party I had about 8 little boys hunting diligently for the end of their yarn, balling it up as they went.

I think for goody bags I put small flashlights and magnifying glass, plus their pencil and gum. Aren't little boys fun!
