Any good ideas?
average age - 5year olds
Party is at the local bowling alley - no real THEME
I am tired of buying "junk" though...
seen anything online that is not too pricey (12 kids)
and would be cute??

for 5 year olds I think this should be easy..... :cool1: how about bubbles and candy??? or a gift certificate good for 1 game of bowling?????? Have fun!!!

I usually stock up on Dec. 26 on hair accessories. One year I got 3 velor scrunchies for .99 each which was orginally 2.99. Last year I bought 20 small clear back packs which have a comb, two brushes and a mirror for $1.44 each. My younger daughter's birthday is in January so, I bought lip smacker sets which costed about 1.50 to 2.00 each. My other daughter's birthday is in October and I load up on Halloween candy the day after b/c we usually have her party in Nov. I am always looking for stuf through out the year. I have loaded up when Claires has clearance items 10 for $5.00. One year I bought 25 heart shape boxes of hair clips and barrettes for .97 each. I have ordered from Oriental Trading the Tricky Triangle which is the game that you see at Cracker Barrel and the kids never get tired of that.

I really dislike the goody bags but kids seem to love it. Thank goodness my older daughter is having a party without boys so I don't have to fret what to put in their bags!

Good Luck! :flower:

Go to the Disney Store and see what little things are on sale. Or try a Dollar Store.

Other ideas: jump ropes, jax, mini fans, squirt guns, sidewalk chalk, pokemon or yugioh cards, marbles (print out rules for marbles for each kid), playdoh, silly putty. Buy a big box of legos (not a kit) and divide up into smaller bags.

Is it this weekend? If so, how about a little pumpkin?

Good ideas it'sNovember 13th
and it is a boys (or I usually do the hair tthings too)

I had my DD's 6th birthday at the bowling alley. Do you have a Party City close to you? I went there and did a Disney Princess theme. Plates, napkins, balloons and gift bags with princess goodies plus extras in it. The girls loved it. They have boy themed party favors too.

I've been trying to get away from goody bags full of cheap, useless crap. I sure wish my kids wouldn't bring them home!

Here's what I did for my daughter's last birthday. She had a princess theme, so I bought a crown cookie cutter and made large crown cookies that I decorated with little candy things. I also bought papier mache boxes and spray painted them gold. I let the kids decorate their boxes with foam shapes, sparkly things, etc. (The kids really enjoyed doing the craft). By the end of the party, I had put a cookie in each kid's box. So, the boxes and cookies were their "goodies".

Since this is a bowling party, the box thing won't work, but you could get cookie cutters in the shape of a bowling pin and a ball.

Good luck with whatever you decide! :)

What about gift cards for 7-11? My 5 year old thinks that slurpees are the coolest thing in the world and you can get the cards in any denomination ($1 a slurpee). Also, all the fastfood places have Halloween coupons out right now - McD's - cookies, pies, ice cream ~ Wendy's - frosty's. I am all for consumables as I don't need any more "junk" in my house either. What about painting picture frames (wooden at Michael's) and decorating them with bowling stickers for each child. You could mail them a picture with your thank you's of each kid bowling!

T-shirts. Last year we gave everyone at my DDs party Incredibles T-shirts, and they were a big hit. I also despair at the thought of any more loot bags loaded with plastic toys and candy coming into my house! You can often get pretty cheap Ts at the Disney store--it's worth a look.

At my son's last party, we bought some colorful freezer mugs from Party City and used them to serve the drinks during the party and sent them home as favors later. The kids loved them.

This won't work for you, but anyone doing a summer pool party, we bought noodles for each kid and that was their favor.

As you can see, I prefer to find something that they can use at the party and then keep it as their favor.

We've also done scavenger hunts where they find their favor: things like those small packages of legos, small game or puzzle, nail polish and emory boards for girls....

My son was just at a party where they gave out little fans that light up as they spin around. He loves to play with it. We keep it in the car and he plays with it on the way to kindergarten. I saw these at Wal-Mart in the toy section for $2.00. :flower:

My son also likes getting a cup with his name written on it. Sometimes it has a sticker inside it or a piece of candy. Whenever he uses the cup he thinks of his friend.

And I just remembered that last week he was given a pencil with a car on it and he actually got excited about it! It was so cute. :cool1:

My son went to a bowling party and came home with a small plastic trophy. They had written his name with paint pen and #1 Bowler. He was about 4 and it was his first "trophy." We had to put a shelf in his room like his sister's and there it sits, to this day, with all the sports team trophies. You could do medals, too.

DD got a really cute bucket with her name painted on it (crafty mom) and in it were gel pens, pencils, homemade initial stationary, etc. Super cute idea! DD is going to be 10 and I am putting cute socks, American Girl I Can bracelet, Hilary Duff make up and a Bratz make up thing (all bought for $4.00 for each bag!).
The funniest thing she got for a "Goody Bag" was a goldfish!!! It came in a plastic bowl and with a bag of food (It was a Luau theme pool party). The fish was 4 yrs old in July and still thriving! He's gotten 2 other bowls since then.
How about McD gift certificates?

GREAT Ideas !
I might go with the trophy/medal one -
they would all be sooo proud! :)
I will have to see what I can find!

Target currently has a 4 pack of rubber balls (small size), like the playground kind of bouncy balls. They are $5. You could give each kid a ball, wrapped in tissue.

Guess it wouldn't work for a boys... but this past weekend for my DD who turned 3, I bought a pack of foam doorknob hangers (pack of 6 for about $3 or so) and a bucket of the foam stick-ons, and let the kids decorate their own, then with a colored sharpie, I put "Maddie's Room", "Clair's Room", etc. It was a real hit and the girls liked doing the craft than games.

At familyfun.com they have instructions for a themed bowling party, and they give instructions to make a customized bowling tshirt. I thought that would be a really cute favor, and something that would get used.

I've done all types of things for my son.

I was able to find a boyish wizardy fuzzy poster that you color one year (it was a hit)

One year I did books with fun stuff like pens pencils and stuff like that.

My daughter got a lanyard at a skating party not long ago, and she now uses it to tote her school ID. Practical, and I know they're only a dollar or so at Claire's.
