We will be celebrating our daughter's 6th birthday in April '07 while staying at the Pop in Disney world. :cheer2:

I want to book a character meal but am unsure which one will be the ultimate for a birthday celebration. Any suggestions? Or, any other 'must know' info?

Her favorite character is Ariel.

Thanks all, J

Hi! I also have a daughter who is a big Ariel fan....because of that, when were went in Sept we ate dinner at the Akerhaus Princess Storybook meal in Epcot (Norway). They have princess character meals there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner....but if I'm not mistaken only lunch and dinner SOMETIMES have Ariel. It's not a guarantee that she'll be there, but often she is. She's in a blue gown and does a meet and greet inside the door. Other princesses that were there when we went for dinner: Snow White, Jasmine, Belle, and Sleeping Beauty. Although we didn't think the food was the greatest (not a big fan of Norweigan food), both my daughters LOVED meeting the princesses.

Oh, and when we went I didn't tell my "Ariel fan" ahead of time that Ariel might be there.....I was afraid she'd be disappointed if Ariel wasn't there. So she was surprised/thrillled to see Ariel standing there!

We had Ariel at our meal at Akershus in October @ dinnertime. They rotate the princesses so there is no guarantee of which 5 will be there at that time.....

Another suggestion is 1900 Park Fare. We had our DD's 4th birthday there Sept. 30. Cinderella, Prince Charming, Suzy, Perla, and the Fairy Godmother are all present.... I ordered my DD this as her "cake"...

Our waitress came over and sang Happy Birthday to her along with Cinderella at her side :) She was also given a Happy Birthday Tiara and placemat signed by a bunch of the 1900 Park characters :) Though Ariel is not there, it was quite a memorable birthday dinner! :goodvibes

We had lunch at Akershus and Ariel was there for the pictures in the lobby. We really enjoyed the food and the character interaction. We saw Ariel later in the week at Ariel's Grotto and she remembered us! I thought my DD's mouth would hit the floor when she said, "Oh! I know you! Did you have a nice lunch with all my princess friends?" It was a magical moment and of course the video camera was NOT on!

That same trip we celebrated DS's 2nd birthday and had dinner at Chef Mickey's. It was a great party atmosphere with lots of celebrating going on- very fun!

Also, make sure to get her a birthday pin to wear on her birthday and she will get lots of attention throughout the day. We got DS's at City Hall in MK and the whole Jungle Cruise sang to him.

Have a great trip!

We did the same thing for DD3's birthday! I also ordered the slipper for her and the dog bones for DS7. It was a great birthday!

This year, we are having her birthday celebration at CRT.

We had very nice celebrations at 1900 Park Fare (nice to wear the birthday tiara for the entire stay) on our day of arrival and DD9 actual birthday at Crystal Palace with Pooh delivering the cake too. It was great! We then followed lunch with a birthday adventure from Gifts of a Lifetime. It was priceless!! You just want to mention the celebration with ADRs and it will be noted on all meals.

Thanks for taking time to share your experiences

One additional question though...what are 'Gifts of a Lifetime'?

It is a company that arranges "adventures" or scavenger hunts by "fairies". Ours was a short one but well worth the money. A few clues at a mutual meeting place for the first clue then another destination within the park then another maybe a ride then the final gift of what ever you choose for the child to get. You can decide how expensive to spend. You can go to the website at www.giftsofalifetime.com and read about it. It was worth every penny. My daughter loves Tinker Bell. So ours was "from Tinker Bell" with the final gift being a charm bracelet which she saw in Tinker Bell's treasures earlier in the week. They were a big help with suggestions and made it absolutely wonderful! Let me know if you have any other questions or more specifics.

We had DD's 3rd birthday celebration in May at breakfast in the castle -- it was absolutely wonderful! And VERY expensive -- but everyone agreed it was so worth it, seeing her absolutely in awe with the princesses walking around and eating in the castle. We had a large group so we had 3 tables next to each other. And, although I've read reviews to the contrary, we thought the food at breakfast was quite good.

If you have a princess fan, I think that's the ultimate. Our friends took their DD to 1900 Park Fare for her 5th b-day and loved that as well.

You just can't go wrong with princesses!

When I called Disney, a rep told me that only one princess was in the castle at a time during breakfast and lunch and only the Fairy godmother was at supper. She said that the excitment at CRT was because you are in the castle and it is not so much about the characters. :confused3 Perhaps she misinformed me because you say that 'princesses' walk around. Would you say that CRT is quite similar to 1900 Park Fare concerning the princesses present?

For dd's 6th b-day she didn't want a character dinner but really wanted BBQ ribs, so we took her to WCC. We had a blast!!! They sang to her, and they ate her cake (she did get another one) and they brought out a card to her. She said,"It was the BESTEST birthday EVER." :cheer2:

MickeyEars4Canada -- when we went in May, Cinderella was in the lobby greeting her guests, 1 family at a time. Your price includes a picture with her. Because we had such a large group, we actually received 3 different poses, with 1 8X10 and 4 3X5s in each folder. They brought those to us partway through our meal. When we were seated in our spot, Belle, Aurora, Snow White, and the Fairy Godmother all came over to sign books and have pictures taken. They came around one at a time and were stopping at all tables. I believe my friend said they had Prince Charming, Cinderella, Suzy and Perla (the girl mice) at 1900 Park Fare.

Perhaps someone who has been to CRT since May can comment on who they saw inside the castle. Maybe they have changed things -- although that seems strange that it would have happened in 6 months, especially when they just made a lot of changes in the beginning of this year.

We went in July and there was Cinderella in the lobby taking pics. There was Snow White, Belle, Aurora, Alice walking around when we ate. We celebrated my brother's 15th bday. Ha he wanted it to be with pretty girls. We got wands and he got a sword. It was great.

From what I understand, for breakfast and lunch at CRT, you will be visited by many princesses at your table. At dinner, you will be greeted by Cinderella in the lobby for photos and then there will be a song and dance with the Fairy Godmother and mice during your meal, but no promises of character interaction. I would ask for more clarification on the restaurant board, just to be safe.
