Birthday party arrangements at resorts??

Hi everyone,

We are taking our son on his first trip to WDW, woohoo!!! He will celebrate his very first birthday during the trip! We are staying at the AKL and have no other children.

Any suggestions on what to do at the resort? Is there a b-day cake available or anything? Anyone ever celebrate a special b-day in WDW? What did you do at the resort in terms of the cake, etc?

Obviously, this party is really more for us as he is too young to remember but we haven't been to WDW since I got pg so we plan to make this a trip to remember!!!

Any suggestions or info you care to share would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I have never had a birthday at wdw, but I have read that if you tell them you are having one they somtimes have a cake and some balloons in your room when you get back.
If you want to make sure that you have a cake and all you can call guest relations and ask to order one they are always ready to help out(you pay for the cake).

Mistaroo, happy (early) birthday to your child. I hope you have a ~magical~ vacation at the AKL (it is my favorite resort).

We have celebrated many birthdays and other special events at WDW. We have always set up our own celebrations, be it a special breakfast, lunch, or dinner somewhere. If we set up the celebration ourselves, it would definitely happen (if we had *hoped* our resort's staff would have known it was our child's birthday, something may or may *not* have happened and we would have been disappointed if it didn't). There are many fun things that you may plan while at WDW in order to celebrate a special occasion. Right now I'm in the process of trying to plan one for my upcoming trip.
