Birthday in the Magic Kingdom

Now here's a question for all that have done birthday's at WDW. We are first time visitor's (can't count when i went in 75, memories are quite fuzzy and far and few inbetween). My son will be celebrating his 7th bithday on our 2nd day there. I asked him if he wanted a birthday breakfast with Mickey or dinner. He chose breakfast so I have a 10am ADR at Chef Mickey's. Now the morning for me is too early to have cake. We are on the DDP so I am only allotting us one TS a day. So we are going to do counterservice for our dinner that night at the MK. Where would be the best place to get a special dessert for our family to celebrate?

The Plaza Restaurant in MK is a sit down restaurant with sandwiches/hamburgers, etc......and with GREAT desserts! I bet they could do something special for you son. Also, the Main Street Bake Shop is right next door. Here's the menu for the restaurant:

Also, when I celebrated my little girl's first birthday last year at Chef Mickey's (we did breakfast), they did give her a cupcake with a chocolate mickey on top and mickey sprinkles. It was so cute. Also, they gave her a special character placemat with the "autographs" of the characters. They were pre-printed autographs, but neat just the same. Also, if you're staying at a WDW resort, mention your sons birthday when you check in. We did and they upgraded our room at the Contemporary and delivered balloons and an autographed photo of Minnie Mouse (I'm sure that they would do a boyish character for your son! ). It was a really neat experience! Oh, and you can also get free "It's My Birthday" buttons at Guest Relations in each of the theme parks to possibly receive extra attention from the cast members.
