Birthday ideas

My son will turn 10 on the day we check in. He's a HUGE Bionicle fan (made by Lego). Can anyone suggest a gift service that will make up a gift basket for him and deliver it to our room that evening. We get the Lego magazine, so I even know which specific Bionicle he wants. Also, who do I order a cake from?

Not being a Disney character, I'd think it would be difficult to find someone to actually "deliver" - unless you mean one of the specialty basket "pixie dust"ish type places - which I found to be TERRIBLY overpriced.

That said - you could very easily put together something and secretly have it given to a CM at the front desk or concierge. They will probably be thrilled to bring it up later on for your son.
Perhaps your husband could run into the hotel to check you and the luggage while you are "parking"?

As for ordering a cake, I think the Grand Floridian handles that!

I believe Jane at Gifts of a Lifetime will shop anywhere in Disney and DTD for you. There is a link on her site, jsut e-ail ehr directly with the info and she'll get back to you quickly.

Just a thought - but all DTD stores, and WDW stores for that matter, offer delivery service to the Resorts. You could purchase by phone the Lego set from the Lego store ahead of time, and have it at your resort when you arrive. Though I have never done this, I have spoken directly to DTD stores from home to order certain products. Disney can do anything.

As far as the cake, I would call WDW-Dine and they can connect you with the closest bakery to your resort. Again, they will deliver this to your room.

Another idea would be to tell everyone about his birthday; your resort and any restaurants you are eating at. Every place will do something special for your son. And most times, it is free!
