On another site I read that guest services help families plan special events for birthdays. However, when I called (several times) I was told that they do not do that, one guestt service rep. went as far as to raise her voice to me and say that she didn't know who these families are as if I was lying.
Link below. Please read 1/2-3/4 down about the 6 yr old's b-day. Those special extras are what I really wanted for my son

It's sad for me to think that reps will help only those they feel like helping and my son, who will be 4, isn't going to get those special extras. We've been saving for this vacation for a long time and will be spending several thousands of dollars and I get treated this way.
The Swan also told me they don't do anything either.

Thank you.

Hi Welcome to the DIS!

I am not sure what WDW would do, I imagine they say they don't offer anything because they would be doing hundreds and hundreds of special events everyday.

I suggest contacting the Pixies at Gifts of a Lifetime . I have contacted them but wasn't able to use them, and found them to be most happy to set up all sorts of special events. If you do a search, I think you will find they have many happy customers.

HTH and Good Luck!

WELCOME to the DIS.

I'm pretty sure you can call the WDW Florist and they help with birthday surprises and such.

I hope everything works out and your son has a magical birthday.

Welcome to the DIS!!!!

What special birthday one are you talking about? I could not read all of them. You can cut and paste it here, if you want!

A lot of the stuff you can easily do but usually has to be done when there at WDW. I don't know how the family got the special thing with Peter Pan and Hook unless they booked a birthday bash or something through Disney. Dunno. Tried to find information about it on this web site but could not find anything.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_13_13.gif' border=0></a>

I have done three of my children's birthdays at WDW, so far. Get the birthday badge from Guest Services (City Hall at MK) and sometimes the CM there will get Goofy on the phone to talk to the birthday child and wish him/her a happy birthday. All day, your child will be told "Happy Birthday!" Get reservations at a sit down restaurant like Crystal Palace, maybe and let them know it is your child's birthday. Usually, a character will bring out a cupcake for your child and everyone will sing happy birthday. If staying on site, let the front desk know and usually they will send birthday balloons and a card to your child in your room that day. I let them know when I check in and also the day prior to the birthday. Our resort has never let us down on sending birthday balloons.

You will have a special day for your child.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/301.gif' border=0></a>

See ya around the DIS!

Thank you all so much for getting back to me!
I am a mom of 3 and we're taking our 1st family vacation to WDW and I really want to make this a special b-day for my son. He has been looking forward to this vacation since last summer. In the morning when I ask him what he wants to do that day he replies "go to Disney World" - literally everyday.

I did look into giftsofalifetime.com (received an order recently too) but it is pricey - at least $275. Has anyone done this? I'm wondering if he will be able to visit with the characters during the scavenger hunt or if he just finds letters from them.
I would really love it if Mickey could give him just something a little special on his birthday like on the link in the above post. It would mean so much.

I do have a character breakfast at Crystal Palace and dinner at 1900 Park Fare lined up that day. Anyone been to either of these? I would love to hear your reviews. I plan to get the b-day badge too.

We're stayong at the Swan but unfortunately they don't do anything for b-days.

My daughter will be 1 a week later so we're celebrating her b-day at Cinderella's Royal Table while we're there. A very nice dining reserv. rep suggested we celebrate hers too.

Thank you all so much for your tips!! I really appreciate it.
