DS's birthday party is coming up in a couple of weeks and I am looking for some more games to play with a group of 7 and 8 year olds. So far we have Pass the box, water balloon toss, musical statues, What's in the box and a pinata. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My SIL just had a party for my nephew who turned 8. She had a Treasure Hunt for them outside which went over real big!!!:D

Outdoor treasure hunts are great. You could have a couple of different themed ones too.

Getting off the track of games but in keeping with the treasure hunt theme, you could serve up individual treasure hunt ice creams.

Just get hold of some colourful lollies like m&m's etc & pop them in the bottom of dish & fill with ice cream & freeze. You could even pop a couple through the ice cream before you freeze it.

Also, with pass the parcel/box you could have another one with tags on. eg.....to the boy with the curliest hair etc & have little gifts or lolliops along the way.

Treasure hunts are wonderful and so much fun, we did one last year and the kids had lots of fun. Looking for something different this year though. Thanks!

What about the old Pin the tail on the Donkey?

Huckle Buckle is fun
Limbo
Clothing relay race
Obstacle course
Tug of war
egg and spoon race (you can use water balloon for this as well just use a BIG kitchen spoon/ladle)

Centipede

WAter balloon toss with milk gallon jugs. Take milk gallon jugs rinse them out, and cut it so it resembles one of those wiffler things. Use these milk gallon jugs to toss the water balloons between them

balloon volleyball with no hands... (here's how you play it!)

Use a jump rope or rope and make a line on the ground. Make two teams on both sides of the line. Grab a regular air (not helium) filled ballon and blow it up.

Tell the kids that they have to sit on their hands, and have to use any other body part available to get the balloon over to the other side for a volley. (They can also scoot around, but they still need to stay on their hands ) You don't have to keep strict volley ball rules.. usually it takes about 3/4 hits to get it over the line... but its pretty fun

Obviously, you have to tell them not to elbow other team mates or head butt them, but this is great game with older kids, especially boys...

You can tell I have a boy, and also planned birthday parties at one time for a living.
