I need a recommendation for a TS restaurant for our arrival day. We'll be celebrating my son's 8th birthday and it'll be our 1st time at WDW. I was thinking O'hana but the birthday boy needs to eat gluten free and O'hana doesn't have that many options. We'll be staying at Beach Club and will not be going to a park on the first day.

Check out the menu at Chef Mickey's to see if that would work for your DS. The food isn't great, but, IMHO, what a way to kick off a first trip to WDW and a birthday. The Fab Five are there (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald) and you will see the monorail going through the resort. You could also take a ride on the monorail! To me, that would be an awesome first day and birthday at WDW!

Will you have a car? If so, you can drive to CR to get to the restaurant. Otherwise, you can take a bus from BC to MK and walk from there or, for something special, take a Minnie Van over to CR (they cost $25).

Thank you! No we won't have a car but we could either take the bus or the minnie van.

Ohana is fun and they do sing for birthdays (Or they used to). Chef Mickeys is fun too. Wherever you go to eat you can order a gluten free birthday cake for your son. We ordered a cake for our friends' daughter who has a dairy allergy and the cake was absolutely delicious. We all ate it.

Thank you! That was my next question. Do I have to order the cake ahead of time? I'm assuming so!

Here is the place that supplies the special diet cakes at Disney.

We ordered the brownie cake with vanilla frosting. We got it yellow and red to look like belle. We brought a rose to put on the cake when it came to the table. You can look on the site to see the different designs. This cake was delicious.

We ordered a 6" cake and there were 10 of us. It was the perfect size. Have fun.

You are welcome. We are ordering the same cake again for this year as we will be with the same friends. When we ordered the cake, there was a discount if the cake was being delivered to Disney - not sure if that is still the case. Enjoy!
