DH and I were planning on going to Chef de France for my 30th bday dinner but now I am wondering if we should go to Bistro de Paris?

Which is better for a nice romantic birthday for just Dh and myself? Any recommendations on food choices that you liked?

What about illuminations? Can you see the fireworks from there? Or should I try to get dinner plans later? (I heard 7:30 is a good time to try to reserve for the show)

:thanks:

Hi! We've eaten at both & preferred Bistro de Paris, b/c the restaurant itself had a more romantic atmosphere. I say "the restaurant itself," b/c it's one of those in-park restaurants, so it tends to be a lot noisier than, say, Citricos at the GF.
On our two trips to Bistro, we heard a LOT of crying children, saw a woman wearing no shirt or pants, just a bikini & sarong, saw a boy (5th-6th grade age) who kept mooning people & picking his crack, and watched kids dashing around the waiter, as he set the Crepes Suzette on fire (I noticed this, b/c I was so worried one of them would get hurt, but their parents laughed & thought it was funny that they were so excited by the fire. The crepes were being served to another table, not this family's table, and I thought if I were one of the people being served, I would be worried about a child bursting into flames in front of me!).
In our experiences, the resort restaurants tend to be a lot quieter in general, and, possibly b/c people go to their rooms & put on clothes, everyone seems to come fully clothed to dinner. So I don't think I would go there for the romance, unless you're impervious to scenes like those described above. Then again, I'm a teacher, so we always go in the summer, when there tend to be a lot more kids. And I may be more on the lookout for kids doing something dangerous, just b/c I'm used to being on teacher alert!
Chefs de France seemed even noisier than Bistro, but we weren't bothered by it; it just struck us as a restaurant with a high noise level.
You asked about Illuminations; we could see the fireworks, with a somewhat obstructed view, from our table at Bistro. The sounds weren't piped in, though.
Cheers!

Wow, it sounds like Chefs is a better choice that Bistro!
I had an 8:15 PS for Chefs de France last summer. This was perfect. The hostess asked if I wanted to be seated close to the entrance (I have mobility issues) or in the window. Well, that was a no-brainer for me! At 9 PM, the lights both inside and outside the restaurant were dimmed and we had a great view of Illuminations. And, I didn't notice any noisy children in the restaurant; this was, I think, on Labor Day or the night before. So I'd have expected there to be more kids, but no.

Sorry to hijack this a bit but I think we sat next to the very same kid on the patio next to the Yorkshire County Fish Shop - we were joking that the moon was out early that evening!

Thanks!!!

Im still a little unsure :confused3 of which one to go to. I think Dh is a little afraid of the menu at the Bistro but it seems the more "adult" of the two.

Anyone else want to chime in their vote??? :yay: :thumbsup2 :bored:

:thanks: party:

I've only been to Chefs de France and loved it! :thumbsup2 It's now our favorite restaurant. I really love the atmosphere and the food is amazing. I had the salad which had vinaigrette dressing. I also had the french onion soup which was the best soup I've ever had. YUM! Our server was so friendly and very attentive. I can't wait to return in 10 days! We loved it so much, that we made 2 reservations for our 4 day trip. :)

While we were there, it was someone's birthday and all of the male servers sang happy birthday (in French of course) to the lady. I was so jealous. :teeth: :rotfl: I wanted to be surrounded by attractive french men. :rotfl:

We love them both, but, for a special occasion definately Le Bistro since you have an adult only party. It is fantastic.

Now, as far as illuminations..if your plan is to see illuminations that evening I would schedule an early dinner so you are out in time, just in case.

Chefs will be faster, still relaxed and wonderful, but quicker than Le Bistro. Le Bistro is very slow, relaxing take your time, enjoy your wine type place. Food and service are wonderful.

Now, you can't see all of illuminations from either, really..bits and pieces.
