We are going to Ft. Wilderness the end of this month for my dd b-day and was wondering if anyone knew where I could pick up an inexpensive cake there so i don't have to take one with me and worry about it being dried out and ruined by the time we eat it. TAI

Everyone is invited.....we will be there Mar 31- April 4.

I have decided to totally surprise the whole family and i am going to bake a cake at the campsite with a home made box oven. If you have never heard of this google it and be amazed!!

I gotta say, that certainly is interesting, and fun. Have you ever done this before ?
If not, are you gonna do a trial run before you go to the Fort ?

I have a Coleman camping oven and have used to bake cinnamon rolls and biscuits.

Once during a group camping trip someone asked me to get fixings to bake a BD cake for someone.

When thought about the investment in propane that I would need for a cake for 20 ppl, I decided to just buy a couple of dozen cup cakes.

We've used box ovens in Girl Scouts to bake cakes. My personal suggestion: use a strong flavor like a pineapple upside down cake. The flavor of charcoal can be absorbed by the cake.
