birthday cake or not

My son turns 8 on our trip. We'll be eating dinner at crystal
palace and I told the CM when we made res that it was his
birthday. My question is will they bring him a cupcake or some-
thing or do I need to order a cake? We won't want to
carry around the leftovers so I'm not sure I want to purchase one.
However I don't want him to feel like he is missing out.
On the other hand maybe he'll be so excited/grateful to
be at Disney that it won't be a big deal. What do you think?

We were in exactly the same situation earlier this year for my DS's 8th b'day. After much debating back and forth, we thought, "How often are we going to celebrate his birthday at Disney World?" I think the small cake was like $12...not cheap, but in the scheme of things, not that much, either. We had the dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern and they sang a fun little song and presented the cake. I suppose a cupcake would get the same production, but a "real" cake made it seem somehow exactly right.

They will bring an oversized cupcake, but you will need to remind them when you check-in with the host/hostess. I tell that person and, if possible, our server. We've gotten the oversized cupcake at 1900 Park Faire and Boma. My dh was given a full-sized one layer cake and a certificate at Restaurant Akershus in Norway.

Ohana's- We were given large cupcakes each time we celebrated an occasion there. Once DFiance was given a small cake for free for his b-day.

Boma's- We celebrated my b-day there this week and I was given a small (cupcake sized) mickey shapped cake with white frosting and Happy Birthday written around the plate in chocolate, mickey sprinkles and gummy bears.

Thanks all, I guess I better try for ordering small cake as the other
two kids will probably have an "attack" if they don't get to
share with him.

Also, if your son were the pin/lanyard they have some fabulous birthday pins. Also, go to the townhall at MK and ask for a birthday sticker and phone call.

All the parks have a birthday button. Just stop at guest relations.
