Birthday Cake for dinner at Be Our Guest.

I am wondering if anyone else has come up against the same brick wall I've hit. My daughter is turning nine in January and we will be at Disney for this occasion. It will be a complete surprise for her so a birthday cake was on my list of things to try and make happen.

Yesterday I sent my email to inquire about options- buttercream vs. fondant, characters, sizes, flavors... everything. I was really excited about having a beautiful cake for her as a surprise. They emailed back that the only cake you can get at Be Our Guest is the 6 inch plain cake you order at check-in, well there is no fun there. I'd rather just do dessert at the restaurant than order a "nothing" cake.

Has anyone else reading this tried to order a cake for an occasion at Be Our Guest and gotten the same, or perhaps a different result. Anyone had the bakery agree to produce a custom cake for dining there? I was advised that the cake policy might change before our trip and to call them back closer to the time. I'm just wondering if anyone else is having the same or different experience from me.

Because Be Our Guest is new (it just opened for general patronage yesterday, but it's still technically in previews as the "grand opening" is on December 6) you probably aren't likely to get an answer from anyone who's done it.

Yes, I know it just opened so I did not expect anyone seeing this to have celebrated with a cake there. That's why I said I was asking if anyone else had inquired about a cake for this location. Sadly I've had experiences where I get different answers from different people. I'm just trying to find out if anyone else out there is planning the way I am. Perhaps I will pose this question to the forum after the holidays when I am closer to my travel time.

I am hoping that it is going to be supplied by the Contemporary like all the other MK restaurants for custom cakes! Did you try contacting Private Dining at the Contemporary? They might know more since they do the other ones there.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Every other restaurant in MK would be eligible, why not BOG. The folks at the cake hotline did say to check back that because of the restaurants new status things could change.

I wanted to order a custom cake for our dinner at Be Our Guest next month, too. I emailed one of the Contemporary's pastry chefs last night, actually, and he replied this morning saying, "Unfortunately we are unable to make cakes for Be Our Guest at this time."

Very disappointing, but from the way he worded things, maybe they'll be able to in the future.

No, they don't offer cakes at lunch time. Only at dinner. They are also changing the custom cake delivery to MK restaurants starting 12/15 and there is no info available on what is being offered after that. Just that at this time you can only custom order until 12/15 and podium cakes will still be available.
