Birthday At Swan

I was reading another post regarding what Disney's resorts do for someones birthday. I was just curious has anyone ever had something neat done at the Swan for a Birthday? It will be my nephews birthday during our trip.

Well,

I can give you my experience with my stepfather. We were staying at the Swan this past January and had reservations at Palio there for dinner. It was my stepfather's birthday and my mom asked for me to arrange for something. We went to the restauraunt and they sent us to the concierge where we explained that we wanted to see if there was anything they could do for a birthday (even offering to pay.) The concierge then typed a few things into his computer and sent us on our way.... When my parents went back to the room they found..... three small pieces of candy on the night stand. Needless to say it was a bit underwhelming. Granted it was the weekend of the Disney marathon and it was short notice. We still had a great time.... anyway maybe someone else has a more inspirational tale....steve c

Hi faithful, hope your trip was fantastic and that your nephew's birthday was magical. I'm new to the board, so I was not able to reply prior to your departure. In 2000, my DH, myself and 2 DDs spent our first Disney vacation during the millenium celebrations. As if that wasn't incredible in itself, my youngest DD turned 6 while we were there. Upon checkin at the Swan (awesome resort! - hope you enjoyed the pool/hot tub) I casually mentioned that we would be celebrating a birthday during our stay. The front desk staff were pleasant but did not ask any questions or elaborate on that tidbit of info. On the morning of her birthday, my DD opened her cards and gifts and then we embarked on an adventurous bday. Upon our return to our hotel room, inside the room we found a linen-covered room service cart with fine china, silverware, linens, etc. and a huge birthday cake with all of the disney characters airbrushed onto the cake. There was also a birthday card signed by all of the characters inside addressed to "Little Miss ....(not knowing which daughter was celebrating the birthday). We still do not know if the front desk arranged for this or if housekeeping made note of the birthday cards in the room and made arrangements (a huge tip was left just in case it was housekeeping...they also played a game with the childrens' stuffed animals every day. The kids loved coming back "home" each day to find their animals posed differently or hidden in different places.) All-in-all, the Swan blew us away with their resort and going the extra mile to make a little girl's birthday one to always remember.

That sounds great!!! We did have a great trip! Loved the swan but did not have the type of room service you did. We had two rooms and traveled with 5 children. (8, 10, 10, 12, 15) ..the room people performed their jobs but put no extra effort into it. Since we did not think the hotel would do anything we did not tell staff so nothing was done by the hotel. We had his birthday at the hoop de doo and he turned 16. Since he turned 16 all the girls in the show gave him birthday kisses (sweet 16 and never been kissed.) He was thoroughly embarassed but it was a lot of fun!

I recently had a great birthday experience at the Swan! I had gone to the concierge for some help with dining/activity arrangements. She noticed one of my dinner reservations, that we were changing the time & the number of our party, had a note about it being my birthday. We actually had dinner reservations both Friday & Saturday. Thursday evening when we returned from Cirque du Soleil & downtown Disney, there was a lovely piece of chocolate cake on a plate that was decorated - Happy Birthday, etc... & a birthday card from the concierge desk! That was so thoughtful, not only that they sent something, but that they chose a night that we did not have a dining reservation. We enjoyed every yummy morsel & our whole experience at the Swan!
