hi everyone,

i am new to this board. nice to know all of u and the great tips u have in this board.

we (dh, my 17mths old son, myself) r going to dlp from 5th-8th of june. unfortunately it will be a few days (3 days to be exact!) after my birthday. we have booked separate flight to cdg and hotel santa fe for 3 nights (no extras whatsover like character dining, meal plan etc) which in total cost 650 pounds. i dont know wheter to opt for meal plan as we r planning to have a day trip in paris itself & the village outlet for one of those days. however thats not about it. i am now tempting to book birthday with character (for myself..wink*wink*) although i will be a lil bit belated by the time we r in dlp. just wondered has anyone opt for this option? how was it?is it worth having your birthday celebration in dlp?

Hi inda2681 and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

I think it would be a great idea to have a birthday treat with a character meal. Cafe Mickey would be my suggestion :thumbsup2

A Birthday is the best excuse to treat yourself to a meal with the characters :thumbsup2
If you've been reading through the threads you probably know what the options are, if not just ask.
Wherever you decide be sure to have a Birthday Cake and you will be made to feel really special.:goodvibes

Forgot my manners ~ Welcome to DIS :flower3:

thanks jill!

yep i have been browsing thru thhis board n found couples of entries on this topic. however i have some question here:

-if i book just for the birthday cake, will i get to see all the characters as well or do i just get the cake?i take it that if i opt for this i have to inform the hotel on arrival which restaurant and when i want the birthday cake to be sent to. is this correct?

-i dont know which one to go for. should i book birthday with character (buffet high tea at plaza gardens) or just have the cake.

now im confused which one is better. someone pls help :)

A lot depends on your budget. See the website link at the end, you can check prices there. :)

The Plaza Gardens Birthday Party is the cheapest option for characters, a cake and you also get a little surprise.
I think you have a choice of 2 times daily but the PG restaurant is right in the centre of the Parc so easy to get to and it's actually a very beautiful elegant restaurant inside. There is a selection of desserts, cakes, pastries, jelly, every thing you could want at a Tea Party and a small selection of savoury items, it's buffet style.
The Birthday Tea Party is slightly more expensive than the standard Tea Party here, but you get the cake brought to your table and there'll be singing. It's good fun.

Or a more expensive option would be to have a Birthday Cake at one of the other restaurants, if you want characters present, the Lucky Nugget in Frontierland does a Tex Mex Character buffet, lots of choice of hot and cold dishes, it's one of our favourite restaurants, again there are limited times. Cafe Mickey in the Village is another option, where you can have character breakfasts, lunches and dinners and I have seen people have a cake at breakfast.
If you really want to push the boat out then you could dine in Inventions restaurant in the Disneyland Hotel - it's a buffet with an extensive range of hot and cold dishes.

Or you could have a cake at one of the other restaurants, without characters.

You can order a cake when/if you book the restaurant, you can book from the phone in your room, at your hotels consierge desk, at City Hall in Main Street or at the restaurant itself. Or you can request the cake when you arrive, if you have your heart set on a certain time/place it's probably a good idea to make a reservation, it doesn't cost anything and you can cancel, you can even make a reservation from home before you go.

Have a look here http://www.dlpfoodguide.com/index.php
for everything you could want to know about the restaurants at DLP. :goodvibes

thanks jill!

if i go for the buffet option do i still get the whole cake??

Hi all,

I went to DLP in Feb with my friend and our 3 DD's. It was my friends daughters birthday while we were there so we pre-booked Cafe Mickey. It was well worth it, and the girls were absolutely delighted. We hadn't pre booked a cake, but a little word in the shell like of our waiter and we were sorted.

The cake was delivered with an array of characters, and lots of Disney style attention! (Singing, Clapping etc!!

Haven't got a full on picture of the cake, but the waiter did put it in a lovely Disney box to take back to the hotel. YUM!

It was a great experience, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, the look on the birthday girls face was priceless!!!

Sorry about the rather large photo, tried to resize but it's not happening, doh!

Enjoy!!!

yeah im going to give them a call today to book cafe mickey and have the birthday cake as well. what time the characters usually come around?

We were booked in for 8, but the characters were constant. They come out from by the kitchen, make some fun for the kids, then disappear and then different characters appear. Poor CM's, they must really love their jobs! All that getting changed!

I think you'd really enjoy it and 3 days after doesnt matter- mine is gonna be almost 4 months after LOL. My 21st in a few weeks but couldnt get to DLP until Sept. So it will be a very belated celebration (i'm celebrating here at the time though). But i'm going to Cafe Mickey for it, i went back in Dec and it was fantastic. So much fun and the characters were great.

luv
