Are they strict with the birthday buttons?
We will be there on my friends birthday but my daughter and her son will both have birthdays within that same week too. Do they require proof of your birthday or do you think if we are honest they will give one to the kids anyway?

Also do they have many 1st visit buttons because it will be the kids first visit! :)

Thanks for your help!

Definitely not - last year i collected one as a present for somebody who wasn't even with me and didn't have her birthday until about a month and a half later :goodvibes

Same here, I got a birthday button for my brother who couldn't come with me, no problem. And I made sure I took a picture of the button with my cell phone and sent it to him so he'd know he was being thought of while I was at the park.

When I was there, a cast member at one of the rides overheard me telling someone it was my birthday and and said, "Oh, it's your birthday? Here, let me get you a button!" All day I had cast members and guests telling me Happy Birthday. It really made me feel special!

Just tell them you are celebrating all the birthdays and I am sure they will have plenty of 1st Visit buttons too.

Deffiently not strict. My daughter got a "Just Married" button because it had Cinderella on it (she was 15).

I plan on having my niece get a First Visit button and a Birthday Button. Her birthday is the day before we leave, 2 days before we actually get to go to Disneyland. But we are going then FOR her birthday.

I was buying my son a Happy Birthday pin the week before his birthday and when I mentioned coming back on his birthday the CM at the register asked me if I wanted to get his birthday pin right there with her so I didn't have to when we came back!

I'll have to get one :cool1:

DD gota first visit and a 1st B-day from WDW. We didnt know about the buttons until I found DIS. We've been to disneyland several times and dont have one from there so I'll get an anniversay one Jan and dd will get one for her B-day . I'm so glad we are getting our annual passes:goodvibes

Nope, they're not strict about it & they don't require proof that it's your birthday to get a birthday pin.

This I am 56473829826151% sure of, because my birthday falls on Thanksgiving every couple of years, and there's no way I'd go there on Thanksgiving ever again. So, I do my annual birthday trip the first week of December. (Sorry, Disneyland- I love you, you're my favorite place, but after that one year when I visited on Thanksgiving because it was also my birthday, it was :scared1: crowded. :rotfl:)

The buttons just say "Happy Birthday"...they don't even say "It's my birthday" or anything that specific. And all they care about is if you're *celebrating* your birthday, not if it IS your birthday. (and obviously they are free with even that, since they give them for kids at home!)

My family & I had 5 days in DL starting from Monday & my Son's birthday was
the Friday. He wore the badge every single day for the 5 days....got 5 days worth of "Happy Birthdays" from all the CM, and beamed with each one......and he is 26!!!!:lmao:

Same with me my birthday falls the day before thanksgiving and we will be in the parks the week before i intend to get a birthday badge - even though the trip isnt for my birthday i am still planning on celebrating it

My daughter and I were in store in DL a couple of years ago and a CM asked her if it was her first time to DL. She said no, she'd been a few times. The CM continued to drop ever larger hints. 1st timers got something. But, we weren't first timers. But, if we were we would get something. But, we're not. But, nobody would check if we said we were. Finally, to make the CM happy my daughter said, ok, it's my first trip. She got the button.

So I don't think they're too strict about checking, at least for 1st timers.

Last week I was on the phone with Disneyland Travel and I was chatting with the CM, she asked if we were going for something special, I said no, not really, I told her how we wanted to go in the summer for DD's and my b'day but we couldn't, had a family wedding and such, and she then asked what my daughter's favorite character was and also told us to make sure to stop by Guest Relations or whatever it is, and get our Birthday button's. She was so sweet, she was like, it's never too late!

It won't be MY birthday or first visit so I am going to ask for an Honorary Citizen!
Thanks for all your answers. :)

They still had the generic "Celebrate" buttons last week.

Honorary Citizen is generally one that CMs award to guests for a variety of reasons. You might try to ask for a Celebrate! button if they still are giving them out since cinderella_mom said there were some last week.

Of course it never hurts to ask for HC I suppose. :goodvibes
