I'd love suggestions as to what to do to make my Son's birthday extra special. We're planning to stay on sight in March on his B-day. He's been telling family and friends well over a year that he doesn't want money or toys for any holiday cause he just wants to go see "the mouse".

I'm planning to call the hotel we're registered at and inform them that it's his birthday while we're there...

Also getting the birthday button for him to wear....

Also preplanning a character dinner/or lunch with a reservations so he gets a birthday cake....

I'm contemplating having balloons sent to our hotel room when we get back, sent from mickey and gang for a nice end of day surprise.

Any other suggestions or hints for the dos and don'ts for cellebrating Mr. Five's birthday??

Let him pick the first 5 rides you are going to do.

Let him get 5 smashed pennies.

Get him a disposable camera so he can document the special day. You may be surprised at what he wants to remember.

Try to ride the Monorail up front. (He will love it!)

Have a great time.

Those are great ideas!! Mr. Five loves to smash pennies, we have them from all over the country. I was thinking about letting him pick out a smashed penny book because he has so many. You've really got me thinking about how and what to plan now. Thanks.

Does anyone know if Disney offers anything else other then the button for that day when you stay on sight as far as "disney magic" is concerned?

My suggestion would be to book the Family Magic Tour. He would have a great time, and I'm sure if he was wearing his button the character at the end would make a fuss over him.

Also, if money is no object you can check on www.giftsofalifetime.com
They can send custom gift baskets (we had this done for DS5th) to be delivered to your room. They can also set up custom tours/birthday events for DS. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it I'm told.

Also, you can do a birthday fireworks cruise. Disney will do up the boat with a cake and balloons, for a cost. However, if you just do the cruise at regular price and maybe get some DISers to share, I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem if you bring your own balloons and refreshments along.

We celebrated our son's 6th birthday last year at the world! Did most all of the things you're planning. I would suggest letting him have his hair cut/pixie dusted at the Main Street Barber Shop. The birthday button definitely gets noticed, but if your MR. FIVE is walking around with pixie dusted Buzz Lightyear Green hair, you're SURE to get some extra attention. We had SO many magical things happen that day...even got a manager that stopped and talked to him and gave him a pass for the entire family to jump to the front of the line of ANY ride he wanted! Disney Cool!
Don't overplan and just see where the magic takes you! :earsboy:

Thanks everyone for all of your great ideas!

Five is such an important mile-stone, especially in Mr. Five's case.

After numerous miscarrages and years of fertility treatments, I tend to go a little crazy at birthdays.

Relaxing and letting the magic happen is a great suggestion. I think I'll have a "Pixie" deliver balloons at the character dinner.

I'll let you know how things go in March and I'll be back to ask lots more questions and read the fab sites here!
