birth certificate

My husband and I just finished the adoption of our son, and are only praying that his "amended" birth certificate gets here in time. If something unforseen happens, would we still be able to sail with his originial certificate without having to change his last name on the passenger list? Would having the final order of adoption (which states both former and current last names) and certificate be good enough?

I've sent an email off to our travel agent, but thought someone here might have had something similiar and could answer it quicker than the TA would!

If you have his original birth certificate along with the order of Adoption -- make sure it has the court seal on it and not a photocopy -- you should be fine.

We cruised before our amended passports came in showing a family name change, and we brought along a certified court order just in case. The court order plus the old passports were enough to avoid confusion with our different last names.

so if I have an old birth certificate with my maiden name do I need to bring a marriage certificate as well? Also, my birth cert is old (original from 1972) but has raised seal stamped with dallas, tx...is that good enough as long as I have my drivers license?

from what I've gathered before, when it comes to those who are married, they'd compare the birthdates and first/middle names on the birth certificate and photo ID (drivers license, whatever). I'm hoping they'll do that for my situation as well.

txaggie- when in november are you going? We're doing a land/sea starting the 18th and sailing on the 21st.
