we are planning on having another baby (trying now actually - well not this very second )

at anyrate - we're hoping that the baby will be born between August and November.

you can't get a passport without a birth certificate and you can't get the birth certificate without the birth being registered.

so my question is 2 fold.

We are starting to plan a Jan cruise but I've sortof stopped because i'm not sure if the time line would work.

if we get the birth certificate can we enter the US and

if we can enter the US can we get on the ship?

how long would the whole thing take? - we weren't in a hurry when we brought Cassandra down when she was 7 months old since she didn't need a passport but i really think the new baby would need one.

thanks.

Wow that is some hard core Dis' ing :lmao: Someone else asked this a while back. I would contact Passport Canada and hope you get a reply back before your trip begins!:rotfl2: or better yet some smart Dis 'er may know!

You can get a travel letter from the city your baby is born in (ie. Oakville) you can use this letter to get a passport for an infant. A birth certificate takes about 2-3 months right now.

I can't find where I read it, but I am sure I read that Disney Cruise Line does not allow pregnant women past the 25 week and infants under a certain age. I can't remember what it was for sure but I want to say 12 weeks.

Just to add in ... you can "get around" the 2-3 month waiting period if you can get to a passport issuing centre in Toronto (maybe other big cities have them too?) - it is then possible to get your passport within 24 hours (excluding weekends). If you can't stay in town that long, they will mail it to you (takes about 2 weeks).

We are from Northern Ontario, my nephew was born in June, it was mid-September before our December trip was finalized and the baby's birth certificate came in. We didn't want to chance it, so my sis and BiL went to the TO passport centre and had the baby's passport mailed home. They actually had more trouble getting an "acceptable" photo than getting the passport!
