When checking in how do customs or whover really know you are who your certificate says if your maiden name appears on the document and everything else has married names on it?

They compair your first name and date of birth on your birth certificate with the first name and date of birth on you dirvers license. Also, some women use their maiden name as a middle name when they marry.

My advice is to get a passport, it's accepted as the only id you will need. You won't have to worry about birth certificates, drivers licences etc..

I had the same concerns before our first cruise (but did not have the benifit of the DIS boards) and took a copy of our marriage license just in case but did not ever need it. I do agree that the passport is the easiest way. No hassle, wish I had done it befor the first.

I was worried about this b/c I just realized my cruise docs all have my married name, and I haven't changed my passport (I've had a year to do it!) to my married name. The DCL agent said birth certificate and drivers' licenses (I'm bringing both names) should do it, but it doesn't hurt to also have the passport and a copy of the marriage license.

DH and I went out of the country for our honeymoon and my fabulous in laws had given us the trip as our wedding present. They bought the airline ticket in my married name and I was told to bring the marriage certificate with my passport to go through customs. They did look at it and compare the names so I was glad I had them. However, if the ticket and your picture i.d. are the same name, you are fine with just the birth cert. if you don't have a passport.
