birkenstock's- are they supposed to hurt?

I love my Florida Birks with soft footbed. I've had them for about 10 years and they are worn out. So, just last week I went to a store in our town that sells them and had them order a new pair of Florida soft footbed Birks. I wear a 38 Narrow. I never had trouble with my first pair so I presume this new pair will be the same. The "regular" footbed was way too hard but the soft footbed felt so good on my feet. When I wear them for hours and hours I have no back pain but if I wear a regular pair of shoes, I do have back pain. I think everybody is different and what works for some doesn't work for others.

I worry though that I'll have them on and get caught in the rain. Not sure what would happen to them in that situation.

I have never gotten my Birks to the point of being able to wear them all day long. I wore them today for just a couple of house to go shopping and out to lunch.

My feet are HURTING now.

Is it supposed to be this way?

Everyone says these are SO comfortable. I haven't experienced it yet.

I was about to buy Birks too! Now I'm confused :crazy2:

I love Birks. Have about 5 pairs at any given time. If walking a long while my shins will hurt, but otherwise, dang they’re comfy.

I love my Birks so much! I got them as a Christmas gift and didn’t wear them until May. They took about a week to break in. By August, I wore them to Disney and did 25k steps per day in them. Birks for life for me!!!

This all makes so much sense. I have never found Birks to be comfortable. I have bought multiple styles, tried different sizes, done the break in thing and they just don't work for me. I have a flat foot so maybe that's why.

I wear nothing but Birk sandals in the spring/summer and Birk tennis shoes in the fall/winter. I probably have 20 pair. I will always wear them. They do take a minute to break in, but once they mold to your feet - total comfort.

I could not wear these in the parks all day. A good pair of sneakers are my go to. I loved on clouds in the parks for my last trip. No pain at all

Decades ago I had the massage ones. They had rubber "spikes" in the foot bed. I even felt those were comfortable! I've never tried "real ones".
