We are at the Contemporary and noticing that the birds are not as aggressive! One year a bird ripped food out of my hand as I was eating by the pool but my son just ate and not one bird was around the pool area. Did they figure out a way to get rid of them or are we just lucky?!

I understand that these problem birds leave the coastal areas in the colder months and come inland for the "winter." That's when there's problems for WDW tourists. I bet right now those same food-snatchers are working the crowds along the beaches.

They are all sitting on the balconies at BTL.

Disney doesn't "get rid" of anything. Disney World is a nature preserve and they tend to not do anything that would be harmful to the environment. What you experienced is just a natural cycle in animal behavior. The weather is warmer this summer so the birds will tend to stay closer to home. They don't have to go anywhere to search for food, which would be inland.

Early man followed the patterns of nature as well. If there was a drought (like there is right now in the US), man would just pack up and move on. Animals are the same way. Can you imagine everyone in the Midwest just packing up and moving? Well, that's what happened thousands of years ago. The Dust Bowl. Animals are no different from man.
