I've gotten better about remembering my camera when I go down the street to shop and was rewarded today with an amazing amount of varied bird life at Lake Arianna. I pass this lake here in Auburndale each time I go to the store. There is always something going on but today it was a feast for the eyes.

The fish may be spawning or they came into the shallows for warmth. Either way, the birds were having a free lunch.

Just a few of the approximately 100+ white pelicans that were everywhere!

The white herons were grazing the shallows.

A cattle egret and little blue heron agree on an uneasy truce so both can eat.

Besides the birds in these photos, I also saw red winged blackbirds and Kingfishers. There were more Ospreys than I've ever seen in one place, at least 15 of them. One plunged into the water not 30 feet in front of me in search of a fish.

And I got to see all of this just because I had to go to Wal Mart!

Thanks! I'm a bird watcher so I loved the pictures. Isn't the Pelican's "friend" a cormorant? I saw my first Wood Stork at OKW.

It would have been so nice to sit and eat my lunch there today...lovely! Enjoy your warmer temps and wonderful reminders of Spring. :)
