Happy Friday everyone! Well, since I booked disney yesterday morning (for free dining!:cool1: ) I spent a very busy day making up our itinerary so that I could call and get all our ADRs in order. So now that we have a resort and our ADR's planned I started thinking about bippity boppity boutique for dd4.

Two years when we went she was only 2, last year she was old enough but the magic kingdom salon wasn't open yet and I knew DH and I would be crazy with ds9, ds6 and ds2 without a side trip to downtown disney. So, this is the year! We are staying at the Poly, and I planned the apt for 2:55 in MK, and we have 6pm ADR's that night at 1900 Park Fare. So I can head over to MK (that is actually one of our MK days anyway) or stay and go with dd and then meet him at the GF.

My question is this....I did book the castle package b/c I know dd will need a dress and she can wear it again for Halloween so its not a waste. I know I could buy her costume here for less, but will it be as nice? I did a search and read through the BBB threads and saw some gorgeous dressess that I'm assuming are the deluxe princess dresses. What do you all think? I know we will get her nails painted rather than the press ons (see, I was really reading the threads!:rotfl: ) Should I keep the castle package or change it to the hair and nails one only? Can you tell this is as much for me as for dd?princess:

The dresses are nice, no doubt. However, its a dress up dress. I personally can't justify putting down that amt of cash for a dress hanging on a low hook and used for dressup a few times a week. Heck, for that amt of money I would have to frame it!

So, yes they are nicer "higher quality" dresses. Is it that important for a 4 yr old? Mine wore her little walmart dress and was *THILLED* to be a princess. Disney store has some really nice dresses right now that are very soft, if you have one close (running about 18 bucks).

Good luck!

We did the castle package for DD. She has used the dress a whole bunch of times since BBB I feel that the dress was not a waste for us at all. But the extras were, like the shoes, extra tiara, wand. The shoes rubbed her in the park and she wore other ones & she outgrew them very quickly. The wand she only carried for a small time, and it isn't really used much at all. She chose the hairsyle that came with the silver rhinestone tiara and hair piece. She never wears the tiara that matches the dress, and it actually ended up destroyed by our dog.

Sooooo this time we are thinking about doing the crown or coach package and just buying the dress she likes seperatly. I am sure that would be cheaper than the castle package, and we wouldn't have the extras that I feel were a waste. We get the photopass CD anyways, so the pics from the portrait session are put on it anyways, so the pics included in the castle package aren't a real plus for us either.

I am assuming that since you are doing the free dining you will be there in August or September which is when we went last year. We actually bought some of the deluxe princess dresses from the online disney store which were as nice, if not nicer, than the ones we saw in BBB. The only downside is that those dresses are so hot in that Orlando weather that time of year that the girls did not want to wear the dresses long. Fortunately we made reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table so the girls were able to get some wear out of the dresses before they stripped back down to tanks and shorts. What we also did was buy the dresses secretly, hide them in a bag and then surprised the girls with them right before they got their hair done, it had the same effect the more expensive package would at the BBB. Good luck!

We didn't do the BBB last year, but we did CRT, so we HAD to do the dress...We got the Belle one at the Tinkerbell store right by the castle. It was about $60 and it is much prettier than the ones I saw at home. We wore it for Halloween and she still wears it several times a week. So, I def. think it was worth it for us.

I just booked our BBB as well. There is NO way I am paying 180 for the package. We are doing just the hair, makeup and nails, and bringing the dress. Heck, I got the same disney deluxe dresses that BBB sells brand new on ebay, for a third of the price. My girls are wearing them for P&PP as well. mydressuptrunk ob ebay sells gorgeous dresses for way cheap as well.

My MIL got my DD a VERY nice Cinderella Dress at Toysrus for about $30-$40 dollars. I it is fancier than i have seen some of the dresses and the have a less fancy one at TRU for about $20-25.

I would look before you decide on paying that price. Maybe even on Ebay you could ge a really fancy one that someone else paid $180 for!

It's so hot in September you might also try finding a "princess" themed regular dress or outfit. A couple of years ago I bought DD a little Cinderella playdress to wear for her Princess meal (I think we did Norway then) but she was much more comfortable. A regular "fancy" dress would even be more comfortable than the dress up ones (and DD has them all it seems like). The only one that she has worn to the parks during summer time is Alice.

This is a really good point. I have seen MANY ladies do a Cinderella Disney shirt and pair of shorts with a Tutu. MANY places online and on Ebay make them. They are SUPER cute!

I personally not having kids would consider these things:
1. Do you have a Disney Visa, or Annual Pass? If so remember you get a discount at World of Disney Store in DTD and could buy dress cheaper seperately with discount.
2. Will she wear the shoes for more than 5 secs. They like uncomfortable to me.
3. are you doing photo CD if so do you really want/need photo pkg. that comes with castle pkg. You can use/get exact photos with any of 3 pkgs.

Since you have 3 boys and 1 girl, I say go for it and spend the $$$. Seeing your little princess in the parks is pricless.

We were there last year for Free Dining Sept. 14 -22 and I cancelled my 3 girls appointment at BBB. It was so unbelievably hot, there was just no way I was paying the money for the makeover. My own make-up was melting away in the extreme heat and there was no way I would have let our girls tour in those polyester gowns and plastic shoes. That would have been like some form of torture! Luckily, it was going to be a surprise and they never knew one way or the other. I was just glad I cancelled it. I saw a lot of miserable looking little girls walking around in their faux hair, ankle-length gowns and plastic shoes with blue eye shadow and glitter streaming down their faces in 100+ degree weather. The day of our reservation at CRT we went back to our resort and rested and changed into their gowns before dinner. They loved it and we had a great time and got wonderful pictures.

Thanks everyone for all your replies!:)

I guess I have some time to think it over! Yes, we are going the last week in August, which we've done on all our disney trips. So we are used to te heat! DH is a teacher and he teaches summer school too, so the last two weeks of August is our only time to go. So luckily, we don't know any different! DD has dressed up the last two times we've gone to eat at CRT and both times I brought a dress from home (the first time it was cinderella from mydressuptrunk.com and then last year it was a snow white gown that my neice got when she was little at disney for akershush and then cinderlla again for CRT) So I do know about the heat......but it is something to consider regarding the gowns.

Last year we saw tons of little girls just melting away at the PPP as they toured the parks. This would be mainly for dinner at 1900 park fare and then into shorts and a tank. The dress we get will do double duty for Halloween though. Ok, guess I'll have to think about it some more!

But....DVCsince02.......you hit the nail on the head!princess:

Hi All, My question is...I have DD booked for a Hannah Montana make over - well hair and makeup....I purchased a Belle gown and we are headed to the Princess Storybook Luncheon right after. Does anyone know if I have to call ahead to change her BBB experience from HM to a princess one?

(this one i got off ebay and it came from disneyland. $25!!!)

THese are the dresses that my DD wore. My mom got the sleeping beauty dress at walmart on sale for $5. The Cinderella dress also came from walmart and was $20. They were just as nice as the ones at the park. I even thought that they were prettier than some of them at the park. But you can find really nice dresses and not spend a fortune on them. Check out ebay. I got DD's jasmine costume there for $25.

Well, here's my experience. I took my niece for her first trip last fall. She was four at the time and week shy of her 5th birthday. For the last several years Cinderella has been the princess of choice. Before we left I bought the dress, crown, shoes and wand all on sale at the Disney Store. I also bought Snow White for her and the Evil Queen for me as we were doing Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Come the morning of the BBB appointment we get there and they have all these beautiful dresses on display (not that the one I bought wasn't nice). DN takes one look and falls in love with the Ariel dress (the dress, not the mermaid outfit). She looks up and very quietly says that she really doesn't want to be Cinderella she wants to be Ariel because that's her favorite princess and since we don't have an Ariel costume can we just leave she doesn't want to do it. Well of course Auntie has sucker written all over her so I ended up buying the castle package instead of the crown package. DN was over the moon and had a wonderful time. She ended up wearing the Cinderella outfit the night we went to 1900 Park Fare so it didn't go to waste. She since worn the Ariel dress for trick or treat at home, to preschool for her Halloween party there and just in general playing dress up.

I would stick with the castle package and let her pick out what she wants when you get there.
