bippity boppity boutique- is it worth it?

That being said, I think the end product is disturbingly creepy, so it's a non-issue for us. I'm sure DD will ask about it when she sees other little girls in the park, but she can handle being told no. (Most of the time :))

Really?

My daughter was 4 on our last trip and she loved BBB. We are going back to WDW this fall and she will be doing it again. We brought our own dress that I purchased on sale from the Disney Store before our trip. The look on her face when she saw herself was priceless and well worth the money.

For our upcoming trip, she initially wanted to be Tinker Bell but now she wants to be Sofia the First instead so I am going to have to be stalking our local Disney Store to find the dress and the amulet (she really, really wants the amulet).

This. We haven't and won't be doing it. I just got a few princess themes dresses, not the full garb, and she wore those and was happy. Plan on the same when we return in August.

made our daughter's reservation for our June trip. It is the third time for her so I guess we think it is worthwhile.

We usually take a dress. It's more of an issue of having the right dress and the right size.

There are varying degrees of quality of dresses. Our daughter usually wants to use the dress for Halloween also. So we get usually at least three wearings between WDW, Halloween parties and Halloween itself.

It's not any more creepy than the face painting. In fact, the face painting can be more creepy. My oldest son (20) friend dresses up as both "Pocahontas" and "Jasmine" (she works at WDW). If you saw her before and after pictures, I can also say adults dressing up in characters is "creepy". Especially since she is able to play two very different characters. A friend of mine from middle school, his boyfriend is often in a plush costume there as well. Creepy is in the eye of the beholder. I guess those who find it creepy family doesn't celebrate halloween by dressing up either because it's the same thing.

We haven't done it and don't intend to. I am sure DD would love the moment, but I can't wrap my mind around $60 to get her nails painted, her hair put in a bun and her face made up. The thing with Disney is you get in this bubble of a world where exorbitant prices start to sound reasonable. And then you wake up and you're like...what did I just agree to do/spend? ARRRGGGHH!

Why do you think creepy?

My girls are still young and we haven't done it. I'm just not impressed with the results.

We're playing it this way-I'm not going to advertise its existence however, if they find out about it and really want to do it like your daughter, I'll take them so that, they can experience it.

My daughter will be 2.5 when we go, and I have no urge to make her super princess crazy. We'll see what the future brings. ;)

That said, I think the boutique looks adorable and I can't wait to see all the little girls all dressed up and excited!

And to the OP... I say take your daughter. She's right on the verge of becoming a young woman. Take the chance to stretch her childhood a little further. :)

I guess maybe "creepy" isn't exactly the right word. I don't like little girls in makeup. I don't like how our culture encourages them to grow up too fast, and the girls look very "Toddlers and Tiaras" to me. I wouldn't mind it if they just painted their nails and maybe fluffed/curled their hair. The real princesses don't even wear their hair in a bun, except sort of Cinderella.

The other thing, and even by Disney standards, is just that it's a lot of money.

We're semi-hippies from Oregon, though, so take my comments for what they're worth. Not sure how I got such a princess-crazy daughter!

Little girls believing in a fair-tale princess is an innocent and child-like activity. You don't watch toddler's and tiaras do you? Very different from dressing a girl up in a pageant with waxed eyebrows, fake tans, fake teeth, full make-up, and skimpy outfits prancing around on stage and competing to be better than the next girl around you.

Halloween, playing dress-up, etc. has been around for centuries before pageants existed.

The bun hair style is one of several the girls can choose from. I think it is probably the most popular because girls do recognize that as Cinderella's hair style. Benefits to the bun hairstyle is it keeps knots out of the hair from windy rides, and out of your face and off your neck in the heat.

My girls did it last year and it was one of their favorite things. The look on their face when they saw themselves was priceless! I plan on them doing it again on our next trip.

After several trips with my oldest begging to do BBB & me trying to convince her that I could make her look better in the room with a Mippidy Mommy Makeover, ;) I finally scheduled the appointment on a surprise trip. She was weeks away from her 11th birthday & I figured it was her last chance. I brought a dress from home. She loved it & instead of remembering what she didn't get to do at Disney, we have great memories & plenty of pics! I say do it once for the experience. Oh, and a bun was forbidden, that could totally be done at the MMM for free!

My dd did BBB for her 5th birthday. We did the whole nine yards and it was wonderful for a one time exprience. However, we would not do it again. The dress was VERY itchy on her and the shoes made blisters. So we switched back to tennis shoes very quickly and had to find a shirt to put under her dress to stop the itchies. If we did it again, we would just do the hair and makeup and bring one of our amazing itch-free dresses from littledressupshop.com. They are wonderful!

BBB is not worth it. When my daughter was 9 she got the pop princess, they twisted her hair so tight it pulled out a bean size amount of hair from the top back part of her head. She is now 14 and everyday I have to make sure its covered and hairsprayed so you dont see it. Never again. And she's not the first, its happened to many. By the way in my house we call "Bippity Boppity Bald Spot"

On our 1st trip DD was totally obsessed with Aurora. We surprised her w/ a trip to BBB (DD location) on her 8th birthday, and it was totally worth it, Castle Package and all. The best part of the day was when she met Sleeping Beauty, and she gave DD a hug and said, "You look just like me, Princess."

This time around we again surprised her with a trip to BBB (MK location), but she wasn't so into the princess thing. She is now 10 going on 20, lol, so the CYP was perfect for her. She still had some great interactions with the Princesses. Merida asked her if she was a warrior or a princess, DD said "I'm a warrior princess, like you." I should add that she left her Uggs on with her tutu & t-shirt, with full makeup and hair. The CYP hair lasted her for a few days, too.

I know that was probably the last time she was going to BBB, so we took advantage. CYP would probably be good for your 11 y.o. But, if she's still into princesses, I have seen older girls dressed as princesses. Remember, its not about a price tag, its the memories you'll have forever.

Thanks guys! Though in many ways she is '10 going on 13' in many others she is still very into things like princesses and ponies (this is DAD not Mom btw so I am all for that!!). The whole reason she wants to go is the dress, so I guess we will have to give it a try. Going to be a total surprise though. She is going to be so excited!
