Biometrics - Do they really work?

DH and I have 10-day Park Hoppers. We've used them during three trips to WDW over the oast 18 months - one day, then three days, then three days. We store them together in the file cabinet at home. We also had them scanned together at Guest Services last week to make sure how many days were remaining. The cast member at Guest Services made no attempt to keep track of which ticket came out of whose pocket.

Surely, with all of this co-mingling of the tickets at home and at the parks, we've ended up with each other's tickets at least once. The biometric finger deal has never stopped us.

Simply put - they work most of the time.

I'm glad they changed the scanners. The old ones required you to place two fingers under the scanner and squeeze so it would read the contour of your fingers and validated the ticket. I had lots of problems with the scanner not reading my fingers. Now that Disney has changed to a simple "place your finger on the scanner" system, it works great.

They tend to work fairly good. DW and I have switched our passes before and it caught us but the CM just let us through anyway.

I thought the ticket info (including the biometric scan) was stored in a 'group' in WDW computerland, so that all the tickets bought/activated for a family at one time were linked. I think I read that here on the Dis?

If it can identify a particular person I don’t think so,
I'd believe it more if they put you bio's in a central computer...
(in our case) we mix up our tickets all the time (and no we didn’t buy them together) some of them are wedding comp passes, some are FL res. AP, etc. and we always get in without issue
I think it worked better when our pictures were on them...but CMs didn’t really look at those either
