NEVER would the USA desecrate his body. But the alternative isn't necessarily to hand him over to others, especially if it gives them the opportunity to throw a big martyr's funeral. They can give him a proper Islamic burial without doing that.

If they don't turn the body over to Afghan officials, where would he buried? Americans would never, ever stand for him to be buried here. Again, not snarky, just wondering.

I think they will provide him an Islamic funeral, how I have no clue.From what I read it is suppose to be 24hrs. after death, so that isn't going to happen. My problem is the site being made public so it can be a place for his followers seeing it as sacred ground.

I don't know where he would/should be buried. No idea. I just don't think that handing him over to his followers is the way to go. He has a huge family, and aren't the dead usually handed over to next of kin? I know that many of them long ago disowned him, but hey...so what. They're his kin, and they can follow the proper Islamic burial procedures, good riddance, the end. Maybe that will give them some closure too.

Ok, they are saying his body will definitely NOT come to the US. But that goes against what I heard earlier. Someone on tv said an autopsy would be done to determined the extent of his kidney issues.

I guess they will do it at a US base in Europe?
Not sure how I feel, I don't want his body polluting our soil but, don't like the idea of his site being a place for fundamentalist pilgrims either.

News is saying he'll be buried at sea, after a ritual Muslim washing and wrapping, and it'll be done within the 24 hrs as required by Muslim law. This was on FOX right now.

At sea is their best guess. Sounds good, I guess. I think it is right they will handle the body according to Muslim tradition. His soul is not there anymore anyway. That body is an empty shell. He can now answer to God. Justice will be served in death. (JMHO, of course.)

Oh, I didn't know that (or maybe just don't remember hearing it). Maybe that IS why he was in the mansion. The US needs to really take a good look at the local government where that mansion was and how much the Pakistan government MUST have done to protect him.
