I thought Joel did a better job than last year (Aretha Franklin and Aaron Neville). Billy Joel started out rough in the first line, then I think he recovered.

It's funny - I thought I may be the only one who thought it was bad and then I came here to see if anyone commented on it.

It's like he changed the whole key of the song - his singing style is not meant for that kind of song.

I thought it was fine. He did it very much in his own "Billy Joel" style. It is a terribly difficult song and I've heard it butchered way worse. At least he got the lyrics right which, believe me, a lot of people do not.

Whitney Houston...now anything she sings, including her rendition of the national anthem, makes me want to claw my eyes out. She just screeches and I despise 'vocal gymnastics.'

That is your opinion, it's not fact Dawn. I'm a trained musician and he did NOT change keys, he DID hit the high notes and he DID add his own trademark style to it. Perhaps you are not familiar with Billy Joel. Maybe you could treat us to your own rendition? I loved the flyover, didn't you?
