Okay, so I am a wee bit aggravated. Saw Billy Joel in concert last night; it was a great concert but the seating really bugged me. As soon as I got to the venue, I stood in line for the bathroom. Two young men dressed all in black who also were wearing back stage passes came out of one of the doors of the arena and surveyed the crowd. I heard one of them wish the other "good luck" and they separated. The one who was left standing by me then approached the two young ladies behind me. He introduced himself and asked if they were interested in a free upgrade to the first or second row. They said yes. At first I was worried they were being scammed since he took their tickets and gave them others, with the instruction to meet him outside the bathroom in a few minutes. (It was a LONG line we were in.) It was legit, though, as I saw them in the first row. What ticks me off, though, is I noticed that the first two rows were filled with very young, attractive women, and the two half rows that were allowed to actually stand and lean against the stage were almost excusively young, very attractive, blonde females. There were a few brunettes, but I think they may have been accompanied by a blonde friend. These girls were not even alive when Billy Joel started releasing his music. I don't know, I just felt rather insulted that no one my age who has been listening to and supporting Billy Joel for over thirty years was asked if they were interested in a free upgrade. :rolleyes2
Okay, I feel much better now that i have that off my chest. :)

Hehehe... they were probably shooting some video, and y'know the American public -- they love the fantasy more than the reality! :lmao:

I hear ya!!! That would have irked me too.

Last October I went to a Black Eyed Peas/Gwen Stefani concert. Someone had gone around and pulled people out and let them go backstage and become part of the show (these people got on stage during the last song of the Black-Eyed Peas and the last song for Gwen Stefani). I was happy to see that they pulled all kinds of people up there. In fact, there was a woman who looked to be about 55 up there dancing with Gwen to Hollaback Girl. It did an old heart good!! :teeth:

This happens all the time with some Concerts, that and the lousy seats, long line at the Bathroom, the 20.00 for Parking and the 75-100.00 costs of a lousy seat view makes me NEVER want to go to ANY concert ever! :sad2:

I don't see the big deal. Whatever. In all honesty, the best seats in the house are generally fifth row center.

The "good luck" was pretty obviously the sign of a booty hunt. My guess is those girls also got aftershows with the hope that the "guys dressed in black" (road crew) would get a little action.

I was a "roadie" for several years and toured with many household name bands, and saw all sorts of things first hand. Things that would make your jaw fall to the ground. One of the biggest 80's hair bands had a personal assistant--part of his job was to find two hot females to shower with the lead singer after the show...

On one of the tours I was on, the headliner had a huge lesbian following. One of my "side jobs" was to find good looking straight chicks and hand them backstage passes for after the show for the crew and a couple of the guys in the band.

One of the greatest lines I've ever heard was "If you want to meet a nice girl, you'll never meet her backstage. Finish the set and run around to the front door, you'll meet her on her way out." Unfortunately the guy who said it married a gold digging skank. They are now divorced and he's got two pretty young blonde girlfriends--ala Heff Jr. :confused3 :rotfl2:

Back when Billy Joel and Elton John were touring, they joked on several talk shows that they had to alternate who got to "fill" the front rows. On Billy's night, it was nubile blondes, on Elton's night, it was strapping young men. They both joked that they needed to have the first few rows (all they could see) be good-looking in order to put on a good show.
