Trying to figure out how dining works at the Golden Horseshoe...

Is food offered only during the performances?
Counter service or waitress service?
I assume once the show is over, they clear every one out?
Do you have ample opportunity to order, receive and eat your food?
What type of seating is there(all same size tables)?

Thanks!

No, we have eaten there without a performance.

No, you can stay and finish your snacks or just enjoy the air conditioning on a hot day.

The line gets pretty long, so arrive early to get a table and wait in line for your food. We usually get there about 20 minutes before the show.

There are round tables in the center that seat 4 and there are rectangular tables on the left side of the theatre that seat 6. There is also a second floor balcony area that have tables running along the rail. I haven't sat up there but I believe they are round tables that seat 2 possibly 4. There are also 2 stage side alcoves with a larger table. Sometimes these are reserved, but if you are early enough it's worth a try.. BTW if you sit at them be prepared for the main Billy to sing to you and smile pretty for a picture :smooth:

I'd suggest taking ear plugs. I was really looking forward to this and had a nice table in the back but ended up leaving part way through because it was to loud for my 5 year old and the noise was giving me a headache. There seemed to be a lot of higher pitched sounds that just went through my head and it was to much. I might try it again but only if I have ear plugs with me. What I saw was fun though.

We love eating at the Billy shows!

If it's near to a show time, it's generally hard to find seating unless you arrive at least 20 minutes early, in my experience. And the food lines tend to move very slowly. But I figured out that directly outside, there's the same counter service that tends to have shorter lines. So that's what I do now!

I plan on doing a lunch here also. Any suggestions on what food to order for adults and kids? What was good in your opinion?:goodvibes

So there is no lining up to get in the building to see the show? You can just go in and sit down(even without eating) whenever you want?

They do line up on the porch for the first show of the day (11:15 am). After that, there is no line up, just walk in and grab a table to watch the show. You can bring in your own food (we pack pb&j's) or food from other restaurants as well.

Its mostly fried foods with fries, so either chicken strips, fish, or mozzarella sticks. They also have chili bread bowls and ice creams/desserts. I love the mozzarella sticks.

Make sure you get there 20 minutes early to get a seat though (and food from the Stage Door Cafe (I think its called) outside. It's the same food.

Anyone got the times of the shows please, I forgot about billy hill, want to add it to my day!!! We go in August :)

The upstairs tables sit 4 but they are small tables. The pick up windows outside are around the corner to the left at the back of the building. Yes, the food is the same and it's all fried finger foods. We used to get 1 chicken strip meal and 1 cheese stick meal, 2 sundaes and share between the 4 of us. It was great!!!! I have heard there are no more chicken strips tho and now it's nuggets so it's not likely that it would fill us up the same anymore. :(

Years ago the show was so popular you have to have reservations. Each morning when DL opened there would be CM's standing outside the Golden Horseshoe handing out cards with the show time you desired. When they ran out (usually 1 or 2 hours after DL opened) then you could neither eat nor see the show during the day.

If I can get there only 20 minutes prior to a show and get a table then that sounds great. If its much longer then I wish they'd bring back the reservation system.

I don't know if anyone else has done this, but because the food at the show is all deep fried - mozzarella sticks, fish and chips etc - we brought over some Mexican from Rancho de Zocala and ate that during the show.

A great improvement! (someone asked me where we got it from and headed off to do the same thing!)

Hot fudge sundae (okay, it's not lunch, but it's a really good sundae

Thanks. That is where I was getting confused because I had seen references to people "lining up" for the show.

Also note that Billy Hill & the Hillbillies no longer are performing on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. At least from what I can tell on the events calendar

But they usually add these shows back in as crowds go up so it's possible that they will have shows daily during the peak season.

I wouldn't count on it since they actually let one whole team go (green team). They are down to 2 teams now (gold and blue), and they are required to have time off, therefore no shows on Tues and Wed.

The Laughing Stock Company does still perform in front of the Golden Horseshoe on Tues and Wed.

Oh, didnt know it was the same food, thanks for the info!
