Bill O'Reilly - I cant be the only one!

He believes what he says, and has no qualms about it. I like the fact that he doesn't care whether you agree with what he believes or not, and doesn't let that change his beliefs. That's true conviction. Too many people are swayed by what others think, and he's definitely not one of them, which is refreshing, IMO. Whether you agree with him or not, you have to admire the fact that he sticks to his guns and doesn't beat around the bush.

Excellent paragraph! You just described Bill Mahr!

Can't get enough of Rush, Sean, & Bill O. No, you're not the only one.
ewwwww! Can't stand any of them!

If BO is on Faux News, there is no way I'd ever run across him since I won't turn that station on. I think S & R are on the SF radio station that I avoid too. I'm sure that I agree with all of these guys on some issues, but I can't stand to listen to any of them.

To paraphrase David Letterman on O'Reilly, I think 60% (or more) of what he says is c*@p.

I am an Anderson Cooper girl myself....I am in love with Anderson Cooper!

He believes what he says in a "if you say it often enough it becomes the truth kinda way. ;)

That would be Al Franken's job. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Actually these folks are commentators (be it conservative or liberal).None of them should be taken on face value or for their credibility as a primary news source. Disgustingly, many people regurgitate commentators "facts" frequently. :confused3

Pardon me for not being impressed with political commentators who preach the moral high ground and are sleazy or drug addicts in real life.

If I want humor in my news I watch Jon Stewart, if I want biting sarcasm I watch Bill Maher, and I just  Keith Olbermann. If I could get the three of them together at one time I would be in heaven! :cloud9:

You have my list exactly. :wave2:

Exactly, and it applies equally well to O'Reilly as it does to Mahr. Personally, I can't stand Mahr, mostly b/c I don't agree with about 95% of what he says, but I do think that he fits the bill with my previous paragraph to a tee, and for that I will say I admire him.

!

I assume you'd also paraphrase his following statement, which said something along the lines of never having watched him - yet only reading about him in the press?

Oh, I've said it before: I'd leave my DH for Jon Stewart. And he'd totally understand! :rotfl:

I used to watch Bill now and then. He makes some good points, but he makes a fool out of himself every now and then.

Now I just watch "Mad Money" with Jim Cramer (speaking of acting like a fool). I'm addicted!

I don't care for BO's views most of the time, although I do agree with him in some cases. I used to like him more until he had a segment on WDW that I knew to be false. He said that Gay Days exposed kids to extreme "adult" behavior, had footage of bad behavior collected over 10 years filmed at PI and insinuated it happened at the resorts and parks, funny the film didn't show WDW security escourting those people out, or the straight conventioneers behaving the same drunked obnoxious way...

Even so, I don't hate the guy, I do actually like his "letters" segment at the end, he's usually very good at poking fun at himself, makes him seem more human, rather than just a talking head. I don't watch him regularly but I'll tune in from time to time just to see what he's talking about.

The one I hate is Sean Hanity. I can't stand that guy! Him and Rush just make my skin crawl!

Thanks for not taking offense and understanding I was just making a point that both sides have their heros and villains and except for their views, they are admired and hated exactly the same, depending what side of the aisle you're on.

I'm sitting here reading this thread and listening to Neil Boortz.

Am I bad for doing this???? ;)

I watch Bill on a semi-regular basis and agree with most of what he says. I then come onto the internet and read what some people have to say about him and then realize that they don't even watch his show, so they are just guessing what his opinion is (i.e., David Letterman's interview with Bill recently!)

I read thread after thread of disgust with criminals, disgust with child-endagerment, disgust with that hotel that allowed those swingers to have a party that same weekend, disgust with a molester whom gets 60 days, disgust with bullies in school, disgust with many, many things.

Then I go home and watch good ol' Bill and he agrees with everything the posters here agree with, day in and day out. Disgust with many, many things...

So, am I the only one watching him? Or am I the only one who admits to it?? :wave2:

I am a big fan of Bill!! Actually, the more I read your posts, the more I think the two of us think an awful lot a like too! Between Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly, I'm not sure which of those two I really love more! (guess that makes me a conservative huh?)

Dud. He's a drip. Yes, the money for the products he shills goes to charity, but his relentless self-promotion mitigates his Christian impulses (Bill's Books! Bill's Coffee Mugs! Bill's Column!). Moreover, his obsession with the tiresome straw man called The Elite Media is quite creepy; it's like the enfant terrible causing a tantrum so his parents can listen to him. And I'm sorry, but the man has NO sense of humor when it comes to himself and his opinions. "The Ridiculous Segment" or whatever his lame attempt at self-parody is called doesn't cut it.

If you treat him as a comedian and don't take him seriously he can be quite entertaining, like John Gibson, Michael Moore, Bill Maher, and any talking-head you care to name. As an analyst his arguments are reductive and expressed in awful English (the man still thinks he works for "Inside Edition"), betraying a penchant for sweeping generalizations which have no basis in fact. A couple dozen towns banning holiday decorations does not a War on Xmas make, for example; and all this was going on while revelations of the Bush administration's spying program were made public, a massive vote in Iraq was changing the country's political fortunes, and the brouhaha over the Miers nomination was taking place. Priorities, please!

btw politically I'm quite conservative.

I think the biggest problem with these guys-- all of them-- is that they spout very extreme viewpoints based on twisted facts and skewed statistics.... but their "followers" think it's the truth because it's presented like real news. I would like to think that most intelligent people could discern the difference between actual facts and the biased editorials being presented on these shows.... but somehow I'm not so sure that's true....:scratchin
