He says that the crowds today are unreal. He always goes this time of year for Spring Training but has never seen it like this year. He said two hour waits were quite typical and fast passes were long gone by afternoon. No walk ups for dinner anywhere.

STILL they are having a blast and are just glad to be there.

I've been reading about how bad the crowds are all week. We have neighbors who are there for their first ever trip with their children and I'm so worried that they'll completely write WDW off because of the crowds this trip. I did tell them about Fastpass and they had some ADRs so hopefully they won't be totally shut out of things.

Rule #1 for MK: Don't ever go on a Saturday if you can help it!!! Please tell everyone you know!!!

Now you guys scared me. We are leaving tomorrow and will be there all week. It's spring break and I know it will be busy...hopefully staying on property and getting there early will help.

a family from town is down there right now on their first ever WDW vacation! they didnt make any ARs and didnt buy hoppers

We were there Feb. 23-March 6th. Some days weren't bad and others were pure hell! Our last day in the parks, 3/6, it was crazy busy. Pirates had a 70 minute wait, Space Mountain had 160 - we ended up at MGM instead!

Good for them for being troopers and having fun in the huge crowds. I have a feeling I would be cranky. ;)

I know what you mean! I have a friend leaving at the end of the week for her first time at WDW. I have told her about getting to the parks early and using FP. I hope she takes me serious ;)

I disagree, when we went last August, The Uofficial Guide, said Saturday's were good. And they were correct. It was awesome, we did almost the whole park and had very little to no waits.

I sure hope you're right we are going in 2 weeks and the Unofficial Guide recommends Sat the 31st for MK so we'll be there then.

I hope they dont have an awful time. I wonder if they knew about the ADRs and Hoppers? If they did and decided to wing it for thier first trip, I will not feel sorry for them then.

There must always be a plan of attack for WDW.

We were at MK Tues 3/06 - a recommended "good" day for MK - and the crowds were large, with 60 - 90 min waits typical. Because we didn't want to wait for over 1 hr for POC and Ariel's Grotto - we went back on Saturday, 3/10. We had little to no waits, which we found to mirror what The Unofficial Guide said about Saturdays.

yup they knew (from me!) about hoppers and ARs! didnt want to spend the extra cash. Hopefully they got to the parks at openings! They come back tomorrow night and I asked for a trip report

Unfortunately, I think there are no really slow times at Disney anymore. Even for a dedicated "winger", I have to make plans.

Oh that is too bad about the crowds...Although, I know that even a crazy, long waiting line-ups would never keep me from going to Disney again and I hope it won't for others either. Disney is such a magical place, and even though I don't have a "family" yet (children is what I mean, I have a DH who is my family :) ) I know that disney is a place I'll be going til I'm old and grey :thumbsup2

Yikes, we'll be there in two weeks and I know it will probably be worse (week before Easter). Now I'm wondering if I was crazy to book a vacation there at such a busy time. I have prepared the children (well, as much as you can prepare a 4 and 6yo) for the crowds, we're going to pack some things to occupy them while we're waiting in lines. We also made some ADR's, and have the park hoppers already.

Where is this "unofficial guide" that people keep talking about? It actually lists out the dates to do certain parks?

you can go to touring plans dot com and click on crowd calendar on the left and it will show you the best and worst park days for a month out; any more than that and you have to subscribe to the site or buy the book.
