We will be staying at OKW. My kids saw the boats and were thrilled! Last year we tried the boats at the Poly which lead out to the lagoon.

For those who tried the area at OKW, is it a large area to roam around? Is it a great deal smaller than the lagoon at the Poly? Also, can some explain the bike and boat plan to me also. My kids loved it so much we may purchase this for them in January.

Thanks!
Deb

I know at SSR they have those family bikes that fit like 4 or more people. Our guide pointed them out to us a few weeks ago. I have no idea how much though. I do know that my DS's 6 & 4 want to try them out.

Bump... do they offer bike and boat at SSR?

There are no boats at SSR...the closest would be at Downtown Disney.

IMO, the only place it makes sense to do the bike and boat plan are the resorts on Bay Lake. They have the Sea Raycer boats which zip around at near 30 mph. The other resorts (OKW, Beach Club, etc.) have their boats regulated to go VERY slow--probably due to the rather small body of water available to operate.

We make a special trip to the Contemporary to use the boats there and had a great time.

Thanks tjkraz, that's what I needed to know. The boys are old enough to drive the boats, I think we just have to be in the boat with them. We thought since we were at OKW it would just be more convenient just to rent them there. I'm sure they want a large body of water. They got a kick out of going by MK, Floridian and Poly.

When we went in December, (did you know you can use your DVC discount?) and the boys fell in love with it. My youngest was not able to drive. He's xcited to this January :)

Does anyone remember the cost of the plan and can that cost be transferred to any resort that has the bikes and boats?

Thanks,
Deb

You can find more info here:

Sounds like you are interested in the Unlimited Plan. The only thing I would take issue from in that info on Mousesavers is where it says you can only get the plan at your "Home" resort. In that regard, I'm assuming it means the resort you are staying at--either DVC or cash. But I swear that I've read posts from people who said they were able to book the Plan while staying elsewhere.

I do know that you cannot trasnfer it from one resort to another--if you get the plan at the Contemp, then all of your rentals must be from that one resort.

If you think this may be of interest, it might be worth a phone call directly to the marina to confirm some of the fine print.

Incidentally, we had a great experience renting from the CR. We had the boats out nearly 45 minutes but they only charged us for 30, and we got the 10% DVC discount on top.

Thanks tjkraz! I'll check out Mousesavers and then give Disney a call. I'm excited to drive this time also. The 3 boys in my family took over the boats and I didn't get a turn ;)

Thanks Again,
Deb

Do they list the unlimited, family plan on the price boards at the marina? I have never seen it listed. I'm wondering if its something you have to ask for, or if I'm missing it?
thanks!
