Big Time Rush on Nickelodeon

Is this band supposed to be fiction? My kids watch Nick all the time, and they show video clips of this "band", and they make me cringe. They make the Backstreet Boys look like The Beatles.

I actually like some of the Monkees stuff. These guys make me want to blow my eardrums out.
