I found Big thunder ranch bbq on disney's site but can't find anything about it here. Is this new?

I was also wondering if its a character meal? I thought I read somewhere that it had Toy Story characters there but it doesn't sound like it from other sites I've read on.

It ahs been there awhile. It no longer has characters. They do have a country group that plays music while you eat.

Is it a buffet or served family style? I was a little confused by the description on disney's site.

Here's the link to the menus on allears.net which includes the menu for the BBQ: http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/menus.htm#dl

We've eaten there twice and really like it. Like others have said, it's family style and there's no characters but there is musical entertainment and they get the kids involved with some of the songs.

Yummmy.....
Nom nom nom, we love it!!! :) No more characters, that's a bummer, but the entertainment is still fun and we enjoy eating there. :)

It is similar to the Wispering Canyon Cafe BBQ platters. All you can eat. It is served outside. This was new about a year ago.

Thanks everyone! I'm a WDW veteran but I've only been to DL once 6 years ago. My dh surpised me with this trip last week so now I'm scrambling to make plans!

It opened as the Celebration Ranch Barbecue April 2, 2009, and was initially Character Dining and the entertainment included a lot of skits with Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye working with the entertainers (Tex Tumbleweed (guitar, sometimes banjo) Sarsaparilla Sam (piano) and Miss Chris (singer)).

After several months, they removed the characters from the restaurant (and from the entertainment) and dropped the prices. It has become pretty successful, and reservations are a good idea on weekends, or anytime during peak seasons. Tex, Sam, and Miss Chris still entertain all day long.

I'll let the picture do the talking!!

Last august Jessie & Woody were there for pictures & autographs, just around the entrance.

The BBQ was the best meal my family and I had in our trip last month. The price and the amount of food is great. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The service was quick with everything including refills. It immediatly became my favorite place to eat in DL. I think we paid 23.99 per adult.

...so this is not the Golden horseshoe?

the corn looks great but I am a self confessed corn snob our area grows super super sweet corn would this disappoint?

I just remember liking the corn alot. But I love corn anyway so it's hard for me not to like corn.

Does anyone know if you have to pay for children under the age of 3?

There is no charge for children under 3. We've gone twice with our DS who is 5 but because of medical issues he is unable to eat the food there (he can only eat pureed food) and both times they have listed him on the bill as an "infant" and there was no charge.
