Big Thunder Mountain Railroad??????

Can someone please tell me how fast Big Thunder Mountain Railroad goes? Is it rocky or uncomfortable? Is it good for kids? Thanks in advance!

My kids have loved BTMR since they have been tall enough to ride it. I think it is quite tame, but I like coasters.

Try Goofy's Barnstormer in Toontown first. If your kids like it, they should be fine on BTMRR. I thought it was quite rocky, and there are some loud spots and dark spots, but there are no big drops.

I am not a huge coaster fan but, BTMR is one of my favorites
and my kids 6 and 8 love it!

My daughter is 4, and 39 inches without shoes. The ride requires 40 inches. Do you think they will let her on. She loves speed and bumpy! LOL. I take her snowmobiling and she is always "faster faster" Anyway, do you think she will slide? we have never been to WDW and are going in 2 1/2 weeks and wont be able to go back any time real soon. I really would like her to be able to ride this and splash mountain.

I would say that they probably will not let her ride, I wanted my daughter to be able to go on a ride in Animal Kingdom last year and they were very strict on this rule which at the time peed me off but, I do understand it is for the child's safety and their behinds.

We took our daughter on it when she had just turned 4. She loved it and wanted to ride again. This time, she rode with my wife instead of me. My wife likes to scream when she rides coasters, and after this second ride, my daughter was terrified of the ride. She would not ride it again until she was 9.

Put some paper in your daughter's shoes to get her up to the height requirement. A few park maps should do it. They do check almost all the time.

She is 39" without shoes, so I am hoping with her shoes she will be tall enough. I will measure her with her shoes on today. Also, are their measurements accurate or do they add an inch or two to give for shoes? Only becuase I am measuring her with a tape measure and she is exactly 39" without shoes.

they actually measure you in shoes, and most shoes are at
least an inch. girls shoes tend to be higher! especially little
sandels and such.

my daughter gets on all the rides, but if were barefoot might
not. seems strange to some , but they cant have them all taking
there shoes off now can they.

Great idea to try the Barn Stormer first!

We rode it as adults and loved it. Felt silly because it is sort of made for kids but oh well!

As for Thunder Mountain, as soon as the kids were tall enough they were on it and loved it. My parents in their 90's still ride it too but then they will ride ToT and say it is a piece of cake! Crazy Parents!

we went on the one at DLP and our DD'S 5&7 at the time loved it, we also had my parents with us 66&67 they also loved it we managed to run round and get back on with no waiting

As for the ride itself it was'nt that fast i'd only class it as a mild coaster

We went one time when DD was 39 inches and was able to get on Splash Mt, no questions asked. It was at the end of the day and there was no one else in line, so that maybe had something to do with it. I know my DD, now 5, has some chunky heeled sandals, if you really want her to go on, find some shoes like that, it will definately give her the extra inch.

Thank you all! I am hoping there will be no problem, her sandles for the trip are pretty chunky. If there is a proble, we will leave, and do what Scottohiocpa stated and stuff some Disney maps in her shoes and go again My dad and I were talking, he said it was funny cause he remembered me as a baby and him being able to take me on Space Mountain back then.
