Big Thunder Mountain cut out of the Fireworks!

I'm sure this must be posted somewhere, but has anyone noticed that DL has cut out the "Big Thunder Mountain" and Frontierland portion out of the fireworks??

The only fireworks to be shown when we were there, was on a Sunday, which seemed weird. Why not Saturday?

So a bunch of ladies and I got some pretty good seats, and camped out for evening. DL's fireworks are my highlight of going. I love love love the fireworks!!

So you can imagine, my huge dissapointment when they cut them short.

Has anyone else noticed it?

I hope this isn't something that is going to continue.

That is what I have heard also. It sounds like the whole show is going to be changed this summer. I guess it closes down too much of the park because of the areas that fireworks are set off from. There is too much of a crowd problem in a confined area and guests complained about too many areas/attractions closed off. And of course there is also the theory of financial cutbacks. IMO this was the best fireworks show ever at any park and I have seen a lot of them. I am hoping that we will still get to see at least the shortened version at the end of April/beginning of May trip.

Itwas the Big Thunder Mountain and the shooting gallery part. So it goes from the Shenandoah that plays before the Frontierland section to Laughing Place and the Fantasyland/Critter Country/Toon Town part.

Here's a video of where Frontierland was cut.

If anything I would think they would cut the Shenandoah part. But I think it's because of the pyro and everything with the shooting gallery portion.

I think they're going to show the shortened version until RDCT goes dark for good. The new fireworks are supposed to have less pyro and won't require so many rope offs throughout the park and the temp closure of Fantasyland.

That's such a big bummer that it's been cut out. And it's a huge bummer that I wasn't there to watch it with you ladies. But the biggest bummer of all is that I'll never see the show again.

Not only that....we totally closed down the park that night. Those of us who stayed even did the sleeper train before we headed out. Next time you need to stay till the end.

You know, my son & I were just discussing this & thought something was missing but couldn't pin-point it....thank you for bringing this up!! We were there last week & it seemed shorter but thought maybe we were just tired......
I too had heard the rumor about this show closing.....very sad!! I look forward to it every trip....and watch it almost every night. I will be sad to see it gone...I've grown very attached to the music & Julie Andrews speaking.....

Maybe, just maybe I'll get back to see it one more time before they start the new one!!

There haven't been any changes in the areas which are sealed off for the show since these changes were introduced.

On the other hand, it does save money as they don't have to load as many pyrotechnic shells (including the small explosions that go off on Sleeping Beauty Castle herself), as well as the reduction in labour costs since the show is now down to about 15 minutes, from 20-25 minutes before.

It's probably a stop-gap measure until they can introduce the new show.

I was at the Park on Wednesday. Not only is the Frontierland section gone, but the primo viewing area between the Partners statue and the Castle has been negatively impacted as well.

DLR now ropes off the viewers from the sidewalk immediately in front of the Castle, thereby allowing a constant, massive parade of guests to pass in front of you throughout the entire show. Even worse, cast members stand along the sidewalk, yelling directions at the walkers and waving colored flashlights in order to "guide" them.

When I told one cast member that this was very distracting and asked if it would continue during the show, he snapped at me: "The fireworks are in the sky. Just look up there." Really??? They are??? I had no idea....

Remember... Dreams Come True was the greatest fireworks show I had ever seen, and I'm glad I saw it as many times as I did in its "pure" form.

Thanks for the video link. I am so sad to hear all of this. I wonder what is in store for us next. I hope it is not some cheapened version. I really thought that these were the best fireworks. Even more than Illuminations.

No really Capri, I would feel bad too. I stayed over Sunday night, just so I could see them. I had no idea that they were shortened, and I had not heard that they were going to be replaced. I am bummed big time. I feel your pain.

That's sad. This was one of the best fireworks shows.

It still is, imho. There are 3(?) minutes gone from what I believe to be a VERY long fireworks show. We were there last night. People lined up on the street for over two hours waiting to see it. Why? Because it is an incredible show (even minus 3 minutes). If you had never seen the show, you would walk away thinking, "Wow! That was an amazing show!" If you had seen it before, either you thought, "Hmm, something was different," or "Hey, what happened to Frontierland," or (dare I suggest) didn't even notice. It's an incredible show.

They have always done this on busy night. As it was explained to me, there are 2 different rope set ups depending upon crowd level. If the Park is really crowded, that area you referenced is needed for a walkway during the show, as required by the fire department for safety reasons.

Ugghhh! This is really sad! Typical corporate over-simplification of everything It might have been a great idea in the boardroom or on paper but in trying to make it better, they sometimes end up making it worse.

What I was told by a cast member about the Frontierland section being removed was that the show is very long and a good section of Fantasyland is closed during the show, as well as the castle having to be blocked off forcing guests to have to go all the way around to access Fantasyland. Guests have complained quite a bit about this. Therefore, the show was shortened a bit. As for why the Frontierland section, I bet it ties in with glendalais's comments about budget. Maybe the fireworks used in that section were more pricey?

It's still an amazing show. If you get the chance to see it, don't miss it - before it's gone.

What Disney Dreams said is right, we have always had two seperate rope configurations for RDCT.

On light nights, we use a configuration which allows the sidewalk in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle to be used as a viewing area; and which sends traffic crossing the Central Plaza through the southern part over by the Refreshment Corner restaurant.

On nights with heavier attendance, we use a configuration in which all Main Street seating is restricted to the street itself. In this configuration, the sidewalk encircling the Central Plaza is turned into a roundabout that allows guests to cross over to the other side of Disneyland Park by walking around it. This pattern isn't used as often since it requires more labour to operate. However, it does allow for us to accomodate a larger number of guests while maintaining the access needed for safety purposes.
