Big Thunder Mountain--After Refurb......

Do they have a soft opening after a refurb of an attraction, or do they just open it up and keep it open? Heading down in November and that's my favorite ride and it's now getting refurbed till Nov 19th and I'm there the 6-12th. Has anybody been on a ride before the scheduled re-opening date?

Hi Steve, it occasionally happens but there's no way to confirm it for sure other than just walking by (or checking the wait times in the MDE app). Sometimes the refurbs get done sooner and sometimes they go on longer than expected.

Normally there's no soft opening, it's just fully opened when the refurb is complete. Chance the refurb date could be moved or it gets done sooner than expected and is opened.

The Disneyland version added an explosive special effect (TNT powder keg type) to the last lift hill a few years ago. Ever since then, I've heard it's coming to Florida. That's my guess. You can search YouTube for new Disneyland BTMRR.

It has always been my favorite ride in DL, but the refurb is amazing.
