I just saw this mentioned on Facebook/Twitter, but according to the Disneyland.com webpage for the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ, reservations are now required. This fits with the reports that have been filtering back that the BBQ is very popular as guests go back for one last round of BBQ before it closes permanently. So, if you're thinking of heading to the BBQ on or before January 10th, make sure you have a reservation.

A Final Farewell
On January 11, 2016, Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue will close its doors. Mosey on over for one last lip-smackin’ meal and don’t forget—reservations are required!

Yes, we were there this weekend. No walk ups were being taken and all the tables were full.

We went Oct 18th (had ADR) and they were turning away all walk ups - and this was at 4:30pm. The hostesses told me that since word got out they were closing they had been booked solid.

Glad I got our Thanksgiving reservation there early - but I only did because our group is 16 people!

Is it the food or the ambience/show that motivates most people? I'm practically a vegetarian (with a few exceptions) and debate whether to go this next trip as I feel I will be missing "the end of an era" if I don't, but the food is not a huge draw. I know there is a vegetarian option but the meal is still not particularly appealing to me or the kids. But if it's more about the vibe, it might be worthwhile. Any thoughts on what drives you to go?

I can't speak for others, but it's all about the food for me. I really love some good barbecue chicken. And the cornbread is awesome as well. As for the atmosphere, I do like it, but it's nothing super special to me. I don't even pay attention to the show.

We enjoy the BBQ there and it's a nice place for us to slow down and escape the crowds. We have made our reservations for our upcoming Christmas trip. Going to miss this place!

We enjoy the food. And we had both of the holiday cookie bakes. One is a brownie base, with peppermint ice cream and chocolate sauce. Everyone liked it. The other is the sugar cookie base, with pumpkin ice cream and orange spice and caramel sauce. Despite being stuffed, everyone had more of this. We polished it off fast!

It's all about the food for us, so if the menu doesn't really work for you I would eat somewhere more appealing to you. Either way enjoy your choice.

For my family, it's also about the food. We really like the BBQ ribs and chicken, the baked beans, and the corn bread. The atmosphere is fun, but we mainly go for the food.

Anyone know if we can use our reservation for desserts only?

We have 2 times booked, one for dinner our first night and one for lunch our last day. It's looking like we will be arriving earlier than planned and will probably want to eat sooner than our reservation. I don't want to change our time in case we don't get there as early as expected but also don't want to make the kids wait to eat ;)

Can we just go in and have dessert if we end up eating somewhere else before our reservation?

I've read about others being able to do that. Just tell the server when you're seated that you only want to order dessert.

Those desserts sound amazing. I am definitely going to convince my group to try them when we go on Sunday!!

I have a dinner reservation for tomorrow and 1 for mid December when we do our annual family Christmas meet up at DL (18 people - yikes! No wonder DL is so crowded). I'm really going to miss this place when it is gone. I have never tried the desserts (always too stuffed) but this time, I'm going to try and leave room to try one of them (they look so yummy in the pictures that I saw on a separate thread).

Oh I am still dreaming of that sugar cookie with pumpkin icecream. Really wish we could be there to try the Christmas one as well :(

When we were checking in tonight a party of 3 with no reservations walked up to the cast member and I was surprised when she told them that there was a 30-45 min wait for walk-ins. So I guess some walk-ins are still possible but I wouldn't risk going without a reservation because most of time you will get the "we're completely booked".
