So my journey in Italy has begun. I started with three days in Rome. My hotel was called the Nerva Accommodation, and it was nothing fancy, but the room was very nice and the hotel staff were very friendly. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel is there was a lot of street noise, but I was able to get passed that.
While I was in Rome for my three days, I purchased one of the bus tour tickets. It was the best thing I could have done. I did the City Sightseeing Company. My hotel was in walking distance to the Colosseum, which was very nice. There was a stop at the Colosseum, so I caught the bus there every day. The bus took me around to all the Rome hotspots; Vatican, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, etc. I LOVED Rome. It was the most amazing place I have been. If you like history, you should make sure you visit Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. I think those places were my favorite because of the beauty and the history.
A word of advice about the Vatican....were short sleeves. I had read before hand that you cannot wear shorts, so I made sure to wear pants, but I was wearing a sleeveless shirt. It took some serious craftiness to get my shoulders covered so I could go into St. Peters, but it was well worth it.
I was fighting a cold and had no appetite, so I really cannot review any restaurants because I didn't eat anything while I was there.
The most difficult time of my trip was trying to catch a taxi back to Termini Station to get on a train to Turin (my home for the month). It took about 30 minutes, so if you have to do that, make sure you have plenty of time. The train station was very easy to get around.
