Big Spoliers on Cars; Ridiculous or Stylish?

I personally think when I see big spoilers on cars (esp. when they don't even match) that they look ridiculous.

I'm not talking about the standard factory made spoiler that comes on a car when you buy it.

I'm talking about this :

In my area, the only people who I have ever seen driving with these, are obnoxious teenage boys (or older guys who behave like obnoxious teenage boys) who speed about 70 MPH down my quiet residential street.

So what is your opinion?

(Sorry if this offends people who love spoilers...I just really don't see the point, unless you are like, a racecar driver)

Well, you know all those big add on spoilers come free with the giant subwoofer, so that you can draw extra attention speeding down the street while the windows of peoples house shake with all the bass coming out of you ride.

I think it's sheet metal, but I have seen people driving around my area with cardboard ones. Now, THAT I really don't get...

But it's obvious that they've never listened to those things while on the outside of their ride. Otherwise they'd hear all of the plastic buzzing and just waiting to fall off from the stress.

Some of them are so bad, you wonder what the car owners, or in some cases, manufacturers, were thinking of.

I saw a PT Cruiser the other day that must have had every single accessory on it that was available from JCWhitney. It looked awful.

Ick. How dare someone do that to a PT Cruiser! Mine has nooo exterior accessories at all. No bike rack, no wood panel, no nothing. It's just a plain, black, 2003 LE PT Cruiser

The thing is, most of those aftermarket spoilers are doing absolutely no good aerodynamically for the cars they're on. The people who build them themselves typically have no engineering knowledge and just slap something up there for the "look", which usually turns out to be pretty ugly (and in many cases probably creates more drag on the vehicle)! As someone who understands the idea of aerodynamics on racecars (at least a little), I can't help but laugh when I see one of these boneheads driving down the freeway. It's especially funny when they also have hideously stiff shocks, as though they were driving some kind of racecar with ground effects. Problem is, all they're doing is chipping their teeth as they bounce over every little bump and pothole. When real racecars have a street event, they repave the roads, so they're smoother and the underbody aerodynamics can work more effectively.

All the kids who run around with add-ons just don't have a clue and they're letting the rest of the world know it - in big, flashing, neon lights! I find it's best to just laugh and point when you see one!
