Going during Christmas vacation and this is our first dinner. But now I'm reading some bad reviews. It's making me re think this place.

So, Is it worth using a table service credit or skip this?

We've never ate there before. We would probably get a steak dinner, no beers.

Thanks.

I didn't realize that Big River Grille even accepted the dining plan. We go there for lunch sometimes, but we never participate in the dining plan. I think the food is decent, but I can't say whether it's "worth it" when thinking in terms of credits. I can say that I would absolutely choose somewhere else if you are not planning on having beer. At dinnertime, there are so many other options in the Boardwalk area that I think are much better. Particularly, for a single table-service credit, I would recommend Kouzzina over Big River Grille.

we liked it a lot and plan to eat there again in november. we got the nachos and quesadilla for appies, he got the kobe burger, I got the steak and shrimp.... and 2 chocolate cakes. The winners were the nachos and the steak and shrimp (and the cake too!).

We tried this on the DDP last year. I'd never go again. We were sat at a high table facing a wall, there was 3 of us and hardly any room for our plates on the table. The waitress was disinterested and asked if we were ready for dessert while my Dad was still eating his entree. The food was ok, nothing special. I'd definitely try something else with better reviews.

Just ate there in May. Sat outside, had burgers, iced teas and a really really good dessert - choclate cake! The food was good, it was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed sitting on the Boardwalk and watching the world go by. We ate here on our 1st night (we were staying at the Boardwalk). It was a long day of travelling from Maine and we had a really nice dinner.

I don't do the dining plan, but do go to Big River at least once every trip (but usually for lunch). The food is pretty good, the beers are very good and service has always been fine.

As far as non-signature (1 TS) restaurants go, I like The Wave and Captain's Grille better than Big River, but if you have never been there, Big River is worth a visit.

We don't do the dining plan, but I think I can say that it's not worth it. If you want a good steak for a single credit, I'd recommend going to the Grand Floridian Cafe, instead.

Now, is the restaurant worth going to out of pocket? Yeah, I think so. It's worth it if you want to have a couple beers and a nice pub fare kind of lunch, especially if you sit outside on a nice day. It's relatively affordable, so dining there off of the plan shouldn't be a big expense.

Don't do dinner there, though. It's fine for a lunch, but there are much better places even in the immediate area for a good dinner. You can walk a few hundred feet down the boardwalk and get a better 1 TS dinner at Kouzzina.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to talk to the husband about his opinion.. We've tried Captain's Grille and we are already eating at Cape may cafe, Kouzzina....umm, ehhh...not a big fan of the menu.

Already have ressies for Rose & Crown & Les Chefs de France.

I would go to Biergarten again....Oommmpa! Love it, but husband is a downer about this place.

I wish this were easy

I've been there twice. The first time was the first day of our honeymoon - We hadn't eaten in over 24 hours, so any food was good! LOL The second time we were there, I will admit that the food was rather good, but nothing to write home about. I mean, where you are so close to Epcot, wouldn't you rather eat IN Epcot?
I'm not saying that theres anything wrong with the place, but with all the places in Epcot, and the surronding hotels, I'd have a lot of other choices first.

you'll get mixed reviews about this place if you ask.
plain and simple answer is...if you like Bar and grill type food, you'll like it.
if you don't, you won't.
that's what it is with the added plus of sitting on the boardwalk enjoying the view.

Well, if this is the kind of meal your looking for, something really casual and easy, might I suggest going out of pocket completely and trying the Cabana Bar and Beach Club over at the Dolphin? The food there is better and the outdoor seating is comfortable and relaxing.

Plus, since it sounds like you're keen on the idea of being in the Epcot Resort area, it would only be a five minute walk away from the Boardwalk.

In my opinion, there's no reason to eat at Big River unless you plan on having some beer. The food is decent enough, but the beer is the highlight of the place, and it really is a much better lunch spot than a dinner spot.

We've been there twice. The first time our meal was okay, but the service was really bad. We tried it again last January - again the food was alright, but the service was still really rough. I honestly wanted to love this restaurant - the location is great - but I don't think we'll revisit.

Food wasn't great... service was bad.

Overall I think the food was ok but I was looking for more of a disney experience I wouldn't go here. It was typical bar food... nothing really memorable.

We really wanted to love this place. The menu sounded great for dinner. Our service was actually very good. The food however... mine (pecan crusted chicken, garlic mashed potatoes and veggies) had zero flavor. Can't even remember what DF had but, he told me later that his had no flavor either.
But, many people like this place. You may too.

Anything is worth the credit if you want to try it
